  1. McNeil did have a better finals run. Just so you know, they weren't last in 6A in prelims. They were 5th. Taft was 6th and JW Nixon was 7th.
  2. Correct, Fredericksburg won Class 3A in 1979, not 5A.
  3. Area B and Area D look to be the most stacked contests. With only 4 band in Area B advancing to State, it looks like a couple of good bands will be stuck at home. Top 6 Bands at Area B are: Argyle, Anna, Canton, Melissa, Wills Point, Princeton.
  4. Here are the total number of bands advancing from Area to State in Class 4A Area A - 3 bands Area B - 4 bands Area C - 5 bands Area D - 5 bands Area E - 6 bands 23 bands advancing to the State Marching Contest. Should be a great contest on November 7th!
  5. Looks like Area B will only have around 24 bands, which means only 4 advance. So one of these bands will not advance to the State Contest. Argyle, Canton, Melissa, Princeton or Wills Point. Hopefully one more band gets a First Division rating @ Region.
  6. Top 10 at State could be (alpha order): Argyle Atlanta Burnet Fredericksburg Grulla Hidalgo North Lamar Princeton Springtown Wills Point
  7. Many great bands this year!
  8. Are any Area Events going to be posted for predictions?
  9. Should be some amazing bands at all the contests! It seems like quite a few bands have really stepped it up this year and making it very competitive. Good Luck to all bands at AREA!!
  10. There is a strong possibility that all 3 medalists will be coming from Area D (DS, Vandy, CP). Friendswood could sneak up in there (or maybe win the whole thing...depends on the day).
  11. Thanks man! We had an absolute blast with this show! The kids dug it and I'll tell you that the staff had just as much fun planning and watching this show unfold the way it did. We are pushing for another great show in 2014 for sure! John
  12. Well, they already removed that video, LOL!
  13. Are predictions going up for State on Monday or Tuesday?
  14. 27 bands will be at Area E 3A. Bands in performance order: Hondo Columbia La Feria Port Isabel Robstown Boerne Fredericksburg Rio Hondo Pleasanton Hidalgo Somerset Sweeny Crystal City Orange Grove Canyon Lake HM King El Campo Rockport-Fulton Stafford LaVernia Ingleside Needville Sinton Carrizo Springs Pearsall Zapata Grulla Should be some great bands at this contest!
  15. 3A is on the 2nd to last band. A couple program changes from what was listed above.
  16. North Forney sent 3 bands to UIL this year and each got a 1 on stage. That's a rarity for 3A bands....even at this level (especially since their 3rd competing band is also the bottom band and thus contains the weakest players). Fredericksburg (who was 4A at one point and is one of the largest 3As in the state at 990) has 3 bands also but only 2 competed (both got 1s). Port Isabel has 2 bands, Fredericksburg was last 4A in 2007-2008 school year. They do not have 3 bands so all eligible kids went to UIL Concert and Sigtreading.
  17. Looks like Ranchview is puling out so I guess Argyle will be moving up to replace them at state. Good luck to all!

  19. If you didnt' make all-state in ATSSB, I wouldn't even consider TMEA. I knew of a Bari Sax player that made 1st chair Allstate in ATSSB his Junior year and then tried 5A TMEA...made first at district, first at region and then 4th or 5th at area and didn't make it his senior year. BTW, he made 4A region and area his fresh and soph years.
  20. The Canyon HS in Area D is New Braunfels Canyon, not the 3A Canyon up near Amarillo. New Braunfels Canyon has been to state before in 4A and should be a competitor again this year.
