Thinking of doing Bernstein's Clarinet Sonata Mvt. I for the UIL State Solo contest and then possibly switching over to Stravinsky's Three Peices for TSSEC. And I have to learn Hommage a Khatchaturian or however you spell it for the ICA competition. Whoopee for exhausting myself in the spring!

Well then perhaps when you become a UIL judge you can score accordingly, but the fact remains that the panel on Tuesday wanted to see clean marching and playing, no matter the tempo. EDIT: Well, that is in terms of if the show actually makes sense with it's tempo (who would want to hear Flight of the Bumblebee at 44 bpm?)

I heartily agree. I believe that the judging system for UIL is so scattered because there are just SO MANY GOOD BANDS just placed in front. I personally think it would be extremely difficult to have to give scores and then rank bands like these. Either ways, congratulations to EVERYONE who participated yesterday, we all deserve to be champions. Also, GO COPPELL!

Our director told the student leadership today that he had no idea such a rule existed. He also stated that the same director ran the sound board at Region as well as Prelims, yet no such controversy took place then. Let's move on, please.

Can we go ahead and call that a dead issue? I think that having the head honcho in UIL allowing us to advance in that he knew everything that happened should be enough to quell anymore thoughts of further controversy and dicussion. Really, it's more of the fact that a lot of people in my band are messaging me worrying if we are going to get disqualified, and I have to explain the whole situation. I'd like to rest haha

Coppell didn't really have the cleanest show up until Area. Also, most predictions had Coppell third.

Well, sorry, but I did. In my opinion, LD Bell was completely robbed out of 1st place.
