Still, the point is Coppell spent more time working on the smaller amount of drill which should have been cleaner than if they had the whole show complete.

Honestly...was anybody in state finals "really dirty"..you make it sound like the bands that perform at higher tempos can't handle it and flop around the field on one leg...

Here's another quick point...Marcus' show wasn't complete either. Just because it wasn't complete doesn't mean it was worse, in fact it could have been better, considering you had more time to clean the "incomplete" amount of drill you had on the field.

I 100% agree. The same thing happened to our school. We were consistently told that it was our year, and our band directors were telling us that it was the first time they're ever been a part of an organization that could win it all, and after our performance we were so happy, and everybody thought it was our best performance of the season, and then we find out that we didn't even medal. Ouch. I'm not being ungrateful, there was just a lot of false hype about this contest which made fourth place seem like a disheartening place to be at, but in reality that's really good, so I'm glad we did as well as we did. Congrats to all the finals bands.

Yeah, I've been hearing that a lot lately..I guess it doesn't really matter...I mean years from now if I had won a medal, that's not what I would remember.

hmm...I know this is a forum about marching band...but I just think it's funny how there aren't props yet in concert band..but who knows..maybe marcus could whip out some uber props for that too... (This is meant to be a ridiculous post, because it seems absurd that props would be used in a concert setting, but it's just as ridiculous to me to use props in marching band...)

oh i was wondering..will Txbands be posting the finals band's performances on youtube? if so, when will this be?

Hmm...=/ I'm wondering if our band should conform to "modern marching band" seeing as traditional shows can't win anymore...maybe we could just get really easy drill and make it perfect...that seems to be the trend these days.
