  1. Much closer than I thought it'd be. Cedar Park must've been very close on everything to Marcus.
  2. From txblive: Mansfield Coppell Berkner Connally Hebron Marcus Cedar Park Aledo Martin Legacy 3A: 1st: Marcus 2nd: Cedar Park 3rd: Hebron 2A: 1st: Aledo 2nd: Mabank 1A 1st: Winnsboro Wow, some surprise finalists. Always good to see that. and WOOT! Hebron up at third! Alma mater ftw!
  3. Considering Hebron placed above Coppell at TOC last week, I, too, think it is slightly odd.
  4. My pick for ten. Since everyone was following the 6-lock-7-maybe trend, I thought I'd actually go and predict a finalist group. I think it's a pretty decent list... Didn't try very hard, though. 11:15 - Berkner (TX) 12:45 - Cedar Park (TX) 1:00 - Martin (TX) 1:45 - John B. Connally (TX) 2:00 - Newman Smith (TX) 2:45 - Marcus (TX) 3:15 - Coppell (TX) 3:30 - Hebron (TX) 4:00 - Colleyville Heritage (TX) 4:30 - Mansfield (TX) Edit: A bit of commentary... Marcus should run away with this one very easily. I'm expecting a big margin between first and second place. They're just ridonculously better than the rest of the nation right now. It's a toss up between Berkner, Cedar Park, Coppell, and Hebron for the next four spots. I don't know how good Berkner and Cedar Park are this year, but they have a penchant for being top bands in the state. Should be a pretty decent Regional. I think I'm skipping out on this one... I'll be at Area B Finals, though. Can't miss that.
  5. Wow, Coppell wins two captions and gets fourth. Was their drill really dirty? That's really the only way they could've lost after winning two captions. I'm guessing top four was uber-close. But woot! go Hebron!!!! Edit: Nvm... I just read that captions were from prelims... Still kinda applies, though.
  6. Gave me her cell # a long time ago.
  7. Not really a whole lot of big names, but a lot of really good bands. Reminds me of Grand Nats, maybe 2004 (?) when there were not very many powerhouses, but about 20-25 past GN finalists.
  8. These recordings are of the GDYO Wind Symphony playing Rocky Point Holiday and Fugue in G Minor, respectively. Video was taken back in 2006 when we traveled up to Atlanta to play with the Atlanta Youth Symphony. Some of my best memories were with this wind band. I just found this video not even ten minutes ago and decided to post it. I was reaaally excited. haha And uh, hello again to everyone! It's been a while.
  9. Ah, I'm a little sad that Hebron didn't advance out of the Region. But then again, when you got Flower Mound and Marcus in the same region, it's pretty much impossible to get out of it.
  10. I went to Hebron and The Colony's Pre-UIL concert this past Thursday. In case nobody else from these two schools posted what they're playing, here it is. TC Wind Symphony: Commando March by Samuel Barber Lincolnshire Posy by Percy Grainger Finale from Symphony No. 5 by Shosty! This was the only piece I didn't get to hear cuz my soccer game ran a little late... Thoughts: Boy, TC is putting out some bigtime literature. I was sad that I didn't get to hear the Finale, but TC sounded good on everything else. Very nice sound coming from this band. Very controlled. Could've been a lot louder at impact points, though. For some reason they didn't play the third movement of Lincolnshire. I dunno why. Hebron Wind Symphony: Comrades of the Legion by Sousa Circus Overture by Schuman The Planets by Gustav Holst, mvt II Venus, mvt IV Jupiter (and they're adding Uranus later) Thoughts: I'd never heard the first two pieces, so it was nice to hear some new lit. Hebron sounds really solid. Big sound when warranted but never out of control. Always very balanced. They sound a heck of a lot better than when I was in band. Circus Overture is stinkin' difficult! I was very surprised at how well they handled it. Now the Planets... It was just... not very good. Venus is incredibly hard. At some points there were intonation problems. Jupiter was painfully slow. To their credit, however, it was the first time they rehearsed the piece in over a month, and the first time they ever ran through it all. Soprano sax solo in Venus was very good (my boy Chris Rzeznik, first chair 5A all state!!!) I talked to the director and they're going to add Uranus by the time UIL rolls around.
  11. Haha Danpod, that's the first thing I thought of, too. btw, hello again everyone! If you have 25ish minutes to spare, here's a link to the GDYO Wind Symphony combined with the Dallas Wind Symphony playing Maslanka's 4th symphony. This was from 2006. The whole piece was prepared in two rehearsals! Single greatest piece I've ever played. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6...36514&hl=en
  12. Because you can't use proper grammar. Why will they go badLY? I'm quite sure you just got owned. Who agrees with me?

  16. Haha you're still in school. Suckers. Oh, wait... I'm taking a winter course, too... Crap... At least it's online, though.
  17. The movie is about a guy who is the last human on earth. Everybody else is transformed into these vampire like creatures through some massive earthwide virus. It's a tale of his survival. I bought the book a few weeks ago, but I have yet to read it. I'm currently reading a book called Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy. It's by the same guy who wrote No Country for Old Men, the same movie that came out a while ago.
  18. I think the picture in your signature answers that question quite clearly.
  19. Not allowed to wear hoodies. And I know why they don't want you to wear camo. The teachers don't want you hiding against the walls and skipping class.
  20. From my experience, most football shows are treated about the same in Texas; the crowd just tends to ignore the field during halftime. The crowds at football games are usually there just to watch football. The don't give a crap about some marching band. It's always noisy and very rarely do intimate sections of the show actually come off as intimate. Unless the show is purposely crowd pleasing, like Hebron's DDR show, the crowd just doesn't care about what's going on.
  21. Wow, Westfield's concert bands play some really hard stuff. That symphonic band repertoire is sick. Barisaxy, is that Canzona composed by Peter Mennin?
  22. Anyone have any idea how Hebron's team is doing?
  23. Submitted to a monarch. FREEEEDOM!!!!!
  24. Gave me a $5 McDonald's card at BOA Arlington.
  25. Likes to dream a lot (about being a pimp)
