  1. ooh my bad. Your probably right, everything gets mixed up when all your info is comming in from random people via text message on a charter bus, lol. So anyone notice how no Houston bands made finals this year? I mean, i know my band had an off prelims performance, but for no other houston area-ish bands to place in finals? My director told our band, after looking at our scores, that what kept us out of finals was spacing, which would have been fixed had we had the time to clean (which we had much less time to do since we had to rush and catch up learning our show after Ike). I mean, if my band had this problem, im sure all the other houston area bands had the same type of issues too. It makes me curious as to how the contest might have been different had all the houston bands not been put at such a disadvantage going into a state year.
  2. i heard berkner was 11, brazoswood 12, and langham creek 13, cyfalls 16, clements 23. (this is just what ive heard, i dont know if its 100% correct) this was a rough year for my band. Langham missed BOA SA finals by .15 (AGAIN), and missed state finals (for the first time in foreverrr) by 3 places. Ah, that was one depressing bus ride home.
  3. Wasn't there '05 show La Nouba? I believe they won the Duncanville Marching Invatational in '05. But yeah, as far as Haltom being a top five contender this year, well, im pretty sure half the directors from all the schools making state are telling their kids that, (including mine) and with reason. I think besides Bell Marcus and CP, the last two spots are fair game. Alot can change in a week. For alot of bands, their area performance will be the best one of the season, where as some bands are still adding onto their show, and their best performances are still to come. Basically every band feels their show is unique and different from anyone elses (not just haltom) and there are alot of programs that deserve more nods than they get. You get those nods by doing good at state, not complaining about how noone is giving you them before hand.
  4. wow the prelims and finals scores are really interesting. I cant believe Cy Falls was 6th in prelims, and Dulles 2nd. Langham and Clements were basically locks for a spot (no surprise), but the last spot really could have gone to anyone. Im glad falls got it though, expecially since i know they missed state by one and were alternate last go around.
  5. No, it wasnt SFA. I think the school was Westside highschool that didnt get there paper work in. And I heard SFA opted out of UIL because they wanted to focus on BOA, where the system favors them more.
  6. 1. Langham Creek (unanimous 1st prelims and finals) 2. Clements 3. Cypress Falls Cy woods should have also made state, seeing as there was ORIGIONALLY 20 bands qualifying for area E, but one band for some reason didnt get their paper work signed correctly and couldnt compete, so there were only 3 advancing, and cywoods is 1st alternate.
  7. My mom said she thought yall were really good! (i think you guys played either right before or right after my band) She was talking to me after the contest, and made it a point to talk about how much she liked yalls show, lol. (But then again, my mom is no expert) But i though that you guys wearing your real uniforms this year made you look wayyyyy more professional. Does your band director not record your performances for yall to watch afterwards?
  8. Langham Creeks show is "Masquerade" with music by Bela Bartok arr. by Key Poulan mvmt. 1 - Bartok:Kossuth mvmt. 2- 4th String Quartet (the last movement of it) mvmt. 3 - An Evening with Bela (WAS origionally An Evening in the Villiage from Hungarian Sketches, until we lost the rights last week =/) mvmt. 4 - Romanian Dances Looking at the whole package, its the coolest show Langham has ever had. (And by far the most physically exausting show we've ever had, in my opinion) If you wait further in the season, you'll see something we're bringing back from our "Textures" show several years ago
  9. Welll, even if we had stayed, im still doubtful we would have made finals. We had a pretty bad performance, between mic's not working (or being too loud like mine ), people being hit by the color guard, and a whole slew of other marching/mask removal glitches mostly stemming from being unconfident. We lost the rights to our third movement music about two days ago, so, we had to completley rewrite it and learn it. haha. You might actually be right about the football thing though, we won our game again cy-falls. (which our football team has NEVER done, lol) Eh, the directors pull had nothing to do with it. Its district policy. Falls missed this game, so they can't miss another. Doesnt matter who your director is or how big his/her rep. is.
