  1. It's also interesting that every state champion since 2000 has been from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex
  2. area C had finals cancelled because of rain. Duncanville especially had a rainy performance that day. In prelims, sometimes bands don't give it their all and they get energized for finals. I am completely sure that if there were finals that day, the same 4 would be going to state but the order would have been different. (Nothing against Rowlett or any other area C band)
  3. Have it over a week. UIL is already on weird days (monday and tuesday) but why not just stagger the events like they are now, but just moreso so like 1A and 2A could be on monday, then 3A-5A having their own days. And there is usually a week between UIL state and BOA grand nationals, so you won't have big bands having to make the choice to do one or the other. And personally, my high school band went to San Antonio around that time every year anyway because we either went to UIL State or BOA Super regionals.
  4. They could make state a yearly thing for everybody like they used to before 1992.
  5. at least the gap between Coppell and Sachse was pretty big so it kinda leaves no doubt that the 4 that are going to state should definitely be there.
  6. horn_r1, I have to concur with you. Here are my Top 10 in No Order Duncanville Marcus Coppell LD Bell The Woodlands Reagan Bowie Keller Hebron Berkner
  7. Statebounds: Duncanville Coppell Berkner Rowlett dont know the order yet though
  8. do you have the prelims placements for all of area D?
  9. Anybody got the schedule for the contest? We know who the favorites are, but how bout some dark horse candidates to make area finals/state?
  10. well obviously the judges thought otherwise...
  11. Ok we all know Gustav Holst's The Planets is some of the most used material in marching shows. Which shows featuring the planets do you think were especially good? It doesn't have to be a Planets-exclusive show either; it can just have snippets of it too.
  12. probably just people from Cedar Hill, lol
  13. gee this I thought it was too early in the season to be talking about this... at least that's what you said about state predictions.
  14. Are there prelims & finals for this one? Anybody know the admission price?
  15. I know it's still really early in the season, but who do you think has a shot at the title? Do you think Marcus will achieve the fabled three-peat?
  16. Coppell dropping from 3rd in prelims to 7th in finals at State 2006?
  17. The show is going to be called Life Americana and the props are all Norman Rockwell paintings. They symbolize various aspects of American life, like a baby taking its first steps with its enthusiastic parents watching, a soldier coming home from war, freedom f religion, etc. They also have one movement left in the show that they have yet to put on the field.
  18. Well it was my 50th post that took me from beginning band to a higher classification. So I wanted to post something that really meant something to me lol
  19. Coppell's was better dude! Bronze medal FTW!
  20. hmm inconsistencies with that 14 at sundown
  21. no offense, but military bands just aren't as interesting to watch as corps style :/ though don't get me wrong, I'm sure they're great at what they do!
  22. man, youngblood does everybody's drills
  23. eh i didn't like how that show had an entire movement of just shouting.
  24. *sigh* still can't make it into BOA super regionals
  25. lol my band director is quoted in there! Carnochan FTW!
