I believe Central won Area in 2012. But still an impressive record. -

Thought the judging and placement at this competition was spot on! Will be interesting to see how this aligns to Area results in the next few weeks. -

Given the earlier rain delay, have they announced when finals will start? -

Am I the only one having a problem getting on Box5? -
I know this goes back in time a bit, but for me and my wife that experience happened at BOA SA 2008...(told you it was awhile ago :). Our son had been in the high school marching band from 2002-2005 and never making finals at a BOA competition. Our daughter followed in his footsteps with marching band starting in 2005...(the one year that they both performed together was awesome). However, the trend of no BOA finals continued throughout the marching season of 2007. Then we enter the marching season of 2008....her senior year. By then I was a total band-dad nerd and was ranking the bands in various competitions. My only wish that year was that our band would make a BOA finals performance in our last official year as band parents....really nerdy...right?! In 2008, the only BOA competition on the calendar was San Antonio Super Regional. Fingers crossed, we drove down to SA to see our daughter perform in her final marching band competition. We were so encouraged with their Prelims performance, but aren't most parents?? Next up...Finals announcement. The announcer called out 13 bands for finals that did not include our band. Although disappointed, it was an awesome experience just to see the amount of talent on the field that day. But then they announced the 14th band and it was ours. Sooo excited! There were James Bowie parents sitting behind us that we had been talking to throughout the competition. They were excited for us as well and for that reason...the Bowie Outdoor Performing Ensemble will always hold a special place. Apologies for the long comment....

I know it's a bit pricey, but my wife and I always plan on a Friday night dinner at Bohanan's. It's been a tradition for us and they serve a fantastic steak. If anyone is interested in joining us.....please let me know! We would really enjoy meeting other alumni band parent nerds!! -
I completely agree with all of your points....especially the opposite entrance and single concession stand! However, there were some positives: the VIP access was only about $7 extra and offered great seating and views and unlike San Antonio, you weren't struggling to get a decent seat. It also had plenty of room for bands that had earlier performance times to sit as a group and watch others perform. Also...with the scale of such a large stadium and the ability to spread out, it sometimes gave the appearance of a smaller audience which was not the case. Will be interesting to see if the financials for BOA support a repeat next year.

Is there a published schedule? I don't recall seeing it. Trying to figure out my travel logistics...... -

I think it might be fun to coordinate a 'Texas' shout-out whenever the BOA announcer makes the claim of Indy being the marching band capital in the nation.... In a fun way....not being disrespectful. -

I completely get your point. KISD had the same scenario in 2017. While very coincidental, I don't think it's intentional.
