I agree. One of the process for picking him was teaching the top band and seeing if he can teach pretty good. Well everyone in that band really like him. He really is cool.

Yeah sightreading was tough. It wasnt tough for me but I saw the trumpet part and wow. I felt bad for them afterwards because it was just crazy hard.

Does everyone in the state of texas have the same sightreading pieces?

So almost everyone in Region 12 got straight ones. Well all the known bands from my region have. Judson, Seguin, Churchhill, Reagan, Macarthur, Roosevelt, and some other bands. I cant remember but the Sightreading piece was hard. Anybody else had UIL today?

Anybody from Judson here? Just want to know what was the first piece that yall played at the PreUIL. It was quite long.

Has anybody here played Southern Harmony??? We are playing it this year and i just dont like it as much as the other 2 pieces. Its really technical for woodwinds i guess but im a brass player and it just kind of boreds me. I like the 3rd movement though. it sounds like a ho-down and all the brass are clapping the whole with the exceptions of tuba and horns.

I might go on friday. skip school abd whatnot.

So TMEA is next week, anybody going to go??? I planned to go on saturday since i cant go during the weekdays since i have school. its a bummer. But just want to know if anybody else is going.

Cool i played Blue Shades my sophomore year. Its really cool and 2 clarinets split the wicked clarinet solo that year. Well we are deciding whether we are playing Paris Sketches or Southern Harmony for our third piece. Oh btw, overture to candide is really cool, got to play it last year.

Well so far this year, i have never heard of any of this piece. so i tried to find a recording of Colas Breugnon Overture, it sounds really cool if played at a fast tempo. The the marche is pretty cool after playing it for our winter concert, just somewhat slower than i thought. I dont know anything about southern harmony at all. anyone out there have any information???

Well i think we have our third piece. im not sure yet if it is the third piece but according to a woodwind player, they sightread southern harmony during their sectional. So if that is true then our the songs we are playing for UIL are: Marche Militaire Francaise by Camille Saint-Saens Overture to Colas Breugnon by Dmitri Kabalevsky Southern Harmony by Donald Grantham (i think he is the composer not sure though if he is the composer. Also this is one of the rental pieces in the UIL list according to rbcmusic.com).

I really hate marching season. I think that it has been pointless and not fun for me. I tried to quit this past year, but my Bd made me stay and i thank him for that. Im really love concert season. Its really fun and challenging. I think it depends on what school you go to whether you like marching or concert season. For me marching season has been really easy and it got really boring really fast. Thats why i wanted to quit. Concert season on the other had has been really fun and challenging. It has keep me up my toes. I think that my BD understood what the top band wanted this year because everyone is actually playing hard parts especially the low brass. This is just my opinion. I really love watching great bands march though. So dont get me wrong or anything.

I know. Our trumpets our working on the ending. They should have it down by the time UIL comesup.

So we, seguin high school, are going to be playing Marche Militaire Francaise by Camille Saint-Saens. I really like this piece because the baritones play woodwind like runs on this piece. This is going to be our march for UIL. I have never heard of this piece until this year. Well we sightread 2 pieces yesterday and today and we had to vote on which one we wanted to play., One is Festive Overture by Shostakavich and the other is Overture to Colas Breugnon by Kabalevsky. I like both pieces but which one do yall think is more fun to play??? The third piece is still unknown to us. Our BD told us that people can only rent the piece and not actually buy it or own it. So what is everyone playing???

Well right now we are wroking on our Winter Concert pieces. For that concert we are playing Fanfare for a Festive Day, Traursinfonie, In the Center Ring, and Marche Militaire. The march militaire is also going to be our march for UIL. Oh this is the Seguin Wind Ensemble btw. Also we are going to be sightreading 2 pieces next week and we choose one of those 2 and the other piece for UIL is coming in. We can only rent the last piece because our BD said that its really good that you cant buy it and own it. So thats what we have so far.

My school is doing High School Musical. Last year i think they did godspell but not sure.
