August 5, 2006 The "Vanguard" yell has become a popular tradition over the last few years. There has been debate whether or not the staff specifically plans the yell into the show, and while the truth is still mystery, one thing is for sure... we want you to yell this year! If you are coming to Madison for the DCI World Championships, or you'll be watching the Quarterfinals Cinecast in the theaters on Thursday, we need and want you to yell as loud as you can. However, there is one catch - you must yell in the proper place. We've heard that some people aren't exactly sure where to yell. To help you in this endeavor, we've posted a little clip that shows you exactly where to yell with all your might. Xenon...I am suprised that you did not comment on the clarinet compliment. Anyways, before this discussion gets out of hand (It probably wont. but I have to say it), bands change for year to year. Someone gets jipped and others are there to move up. That is the nature of the beast. Duncanville has been a good band throughout the years. Go to the UIL awards archive and see all of their achievements. And thats all in one circuit. Yes...they might be rowdy and stuff, but they can play. Once they miss a state Finals, then we can bash them silly . Until then: "Good Afternoon, Good Evening, and Good Night"

If you have never seen The Academy perform, then you are missing out on a very cool corps. They play their music really well--and march decently well too. Don't plan too much on getting that free food .

Well...at '04 State, we were sitting next to them waiting for the results to be announced. While we were waiting (and the UT Marching Band was performing) they were really obnoxious (sp.?) and yelling. And then, when they were announced third...were like "WHAAA?????"...and then when we were announced second....all heck broke loose. They were shouting crap that was really offensive to me (and my mother). Especially after we were (as least a few of us seniors) disappointed not winning (yes--I am very arrogant--ask my friends). But they are a good band...very distinguished musically...now if they could just work on their attitudes and egos......
