The Div 1 corps were not beaten by Revolution. Revolution is in a different Div. Its like comparing apples to oranges. They are both fruits yet completely different taste. Revolutions is a very good Div 3 corps--they won the Div 3 championship a few years back. And to Disappearer221 about the amplification of the pit: While I understand the point, why should they be amped? I understand that a voice should be amped (i.e. Cadets singer or Crown's narration) for the lack of being heard. But why should Xylophones and Marimbas be amped--should a soprano soloist be amped so that they are heard? Most people would probably (and I am assuming) would say not. But I am a brass player, so I probably dont fully understand the amped pit thing. I would rather just hear a balance of pit, drumline, and hornline--thats all. Just some food for thought...

I would hope not. Vanguard is still far away in 6th by about 3-4 points. While the Cadets are close, there is too many things going in their show. They might burn out or they might make a huge push towards the top. I would hope that Bluecoats would pass the over-hyped and overrated corps (I will not name them--but here is a clue...they have only won 1 championship)--that would make my season. Actually, if the Blue Devils retake the lead and win the championship....that will make me very happy.

Southwind is a Div 1 corps. The only corps to attend SA that was not a Div 1 corps is the Div 3 corps named Revolution. This was their home show.

Here are my thoughts about the Top 7 from the Finals show: 7 Carolina Crown 85.000 While this show was a departure from previous years, it still was entertaining. There were a few partially dirty runs from the trumpets in the closer, but they should be clean by Finals. Overall, a very good show. 6 Santa Clara Vanguard 85.225 VANNGUUAARRDDD!!! I did not miss the yell--did you? In a previous thread, someone asked about the person walking around the field. I figured out it is apart of the theme "moto perputo" or perputual motion. Therefore they never stop moving. Anyways, their drill is fricking amazing--very complex, and for the most part clean. I wonder if them and Crown can catch the Cadets. 5 The Cadets 88.300 I told myself entering the show that I would keep an open mind--and I did. Did you see the drumline. I can say only one word--darn. They were smoking. The singer, while good, did not seem to fit with the show. The Cadets show is very demanding visually for all aspects (minus Front Ensemble). Overall, I liked the show. 4 Bluecoats 89.050 Can you say "WOW"? I definitely can. This corps has made stides towards the top since their '04 show "Mood Swings." where they broke into the top 6. Their drumline is the main reason for that too. The baritone line was smoking their parts too. Props to the tenor that recovered from their fall. 3 Phantom Regiment 90.150 Was it just me. or was this show mainly about playing loud. To me, there was hardly any finesse outside of Ave Maria. Plus they did a crap load of rim shots. But hey they played well and it was entertaining. Dont think they should have broke the 90s, but whatever. 2 Blue Devils 92.000 OMG!!! Their hornline was amazing (minus the ending where there was some balance issues--probably where the .55 difference came from). Their guard was awesome, as was the drumline. Too bad they are no longer undefeated . 1 The Cavaliers 92.550 GE...GE...GE....wait.....can you say GE? I loved their theme of machines. They had a nice visual package and the robotic motions were to die for. Musically, I was a little sketchy about, but what can you expect for a corps that has not placed 1st or 2nd for the decade? Pure dominations Overall, I had a fun time. I was nice seeing the afternoon show too--the reason the corps are getting better is that the bottom is just getting better. I think that the Colts, Crossmen, and Blue Stars all have a chance of making Finals. My only beef with the shows were that there were hardly any major swing sections and high squealers, and the pits. Almost every single pit was amped. But hey, cant wait until next year (hopefully I will be marching it)

I was not there but I am assuming that he/she was an alternate. Most likely a guard member that comes in on big impacts and such.
-
I really think that the Cavaliers scores was due to the fact that it was their second "home" show since some of the brass players are from UH and one of their staff members teach there. Also, the judges might have wanted to cause a wave going into San Antonio. But we all know who is going to win SA: BLUE DEVILS

Here is a brief summary of "Georgetown's finest": The event happened right in front of the brass and the cheerleaders and was after our football team owned the other team during their homecoming game. Girl: "Excuse me! Sir! Sir, you have to stop right now!!" Band Director: "What?" Girl: "There are players crying on the field you need to show some respect and quit playing!" Band Director: (Shewing her away he says,) "Talk to me later, I'll be done in a minute." Girl: "No, STOP NOW!" At this point the Band Director turns off his mic but is still conducting the warm down. I can still make out most of what is said though. Band Director: "Hey, you can't just come up here and threaten me like that. Who are you? What is you sponsor?" Girl: "I'm a Georgetown eagle!!!!! (The Band Director has now stopped conducting and alll of the brass gaze on with jaws dropped) Band Director: "What is you name!" Girl: "I don't have one!" Band Director: "I'm gonna find you sponsor, we'll talk later." The girl takes about 5 steps away from everyone, turns around, and flips the bird. This was followed by a "Gasp!" from the cheerleaders. The Band Director didn't see her flip us off because he had already turned around and tried to get the warm down going again, but I'm sure he heard about it. After the warm down, the Band Director swiftly jumped from the podium and walked straight for the girl, who was just across the field.
