  1. So I've been digging around on the BOA forums recently and found a topic that listed Bell's repertoire for 2005 and people were commenting on the pre-show. Well, the only recording I have is GN 2005 Finals which doesn't include the pre-show... I'm just wondering if anyone had a recording (music or video) of the pre-show they could send me since I'm really curious as to what it sounds like and I love the show xD And if no one has a recording, if I may ask for someone to describe it? Sorry if that sounds like an odd request but I *really* like that show, lol.
  2. From what I've heard, Richland will be getting new uniforms also. Though there's no official record saying so...
  3. Ah, well that explains why I didn't see you xD And that must have been your group practicing while we were waiting to be moved into the sight reading room. Are any of the pieces you're playing from Fantasia? Because one sounded like it
  4. I didn't see any stage managers with red hair and glasses... Maybe I was a bit focused on the moment or something Were you there at 8 this morning? I'm guessing you were but that was around the time my group had our concert.
  5. Lol, then I suppose the rythm "1 - li 2 la li" from the third movement makes you shutter like it makes me? =P I guess I'm lucky I only had to play it 18 bars in a row compared to a few other instruments xD Still a fun piece though.
  6. Lol, all right. I'll try but I tend to get shy and chicken out or my voice will be too quiet. Like I was sitting a couple of rows behind some txbands staff at BOA Arlington last year (09) and didn't say anything even though I wanted to xD The challenges of being quiet and shy =P
  7. Plano Senior High School Concert 1 Band Bonds of Unity - Karl King Joy - Frank Ticheli West Highlands Sojourn - Robert Sheldon Probably the easiest music listed so far...xD But whatever. Looking forward to being at McKinney Boyd tomorrow morning to get my last UIL contest over with
  8. L. D. Bell is going...again xD Not a surprise actually, lol. Plano East is signed up for San Antonio which I believe is a first for them. With the redistricting currently going on in Plano I think there'll be a huge push from them this up coming year. Arlington looks like it'll be a good competition again, hope I can go.
  9. I'm actually excited about Wakeland's show next year. I was a huge fan of their show this year so I'm looking forward to see what they can pull off. Not to mention, the notes from the director kinda piece the show together for you
  10. Really? I never would have guessed. I'll be sure to check that out next time...Thanks for the response! They only missed finals by a few spots...better than 2006 xD
  11. I was just wondering if anyone knew what placements were like for Area C 5A in 2004. Supposedly my school's 2004 show was placed real low this year but no one who was in the band will actually tell me the placement xD I know they didn't make finals so I'm not sure where to look. I would be grateful if anyone could help. Thanks! ...the title should be on a Past Placement -.- Sorry about that xD
  12. So they had a disaster at region? That's a shame, good thing it wasn't a state year. I checked the results for San Antonio and they only missed finals by 2 places and not by too much score-wise. Thanks for the response.
  13. Why is this so bad? I played worse my sophomore year xD I...actually kind of like it My only complaint is that the beginning is really epic until the trumpet part...
  14. I may take you up on that offer though I'll just shoot them to you in a message or something so this thread doesn't turn into question and answer or something xD Despite my user name, if I continue with band I'll be in the same section as you
  15. I'm not sure where I'm going yet, though I'm hoping to get into Texas A&M for some sort of engineering If I don't get into there I may go to OSU or UNT.
  16. ^^^ That can't be right....There aren't enough musical selections Reminds me of Kennesaw Mountain 2004....
  17. It seems Wylie is moving down to 4A also, they were Area B finalist last 5A state year. Which districts make up which Areas? xD Their sheets aren't band friendly =P Edit: Grammar fail
  18. I was surprised by the ties...when it comes to general effect portions of Avon's show weren't as interesting as some of the others...but their show was amazing regardless! Congrats to Avon for taking the repeat! I'm surprised that LD Bell and Marian Catholic tied o.O Tbh I didn't find Marian Catholic to be all that interesting, but I can't say they didn't deserve it, every band was amazing out there tonight!
  19. I was just wondering about Carmel's time change, though I thought if something like that happened they'd just tell the band to play without the soloist since I'm sure they would of if it wasn't a soloist. A lot of bands at Nationals have great shows...but I'm just glad I'll be watching the webcast and my school's playoff game was assigned for Friday night. At this point I'd say that every band in finals is going to be great.
  20. Thanks for the update! I can't wait the see the shows on the fan network. How do you think Avon and Carmel will compare at nationals? And people were saying on the MFA/BOA forums that Carmel's preliminary time was moved, any idea what the reason behind that was?
  21. I have plenty from this year. Not being a state year I was expecting the shows to be "more fun" and they were Ronald Reagan - I missed them at BOA Arlington (literally got out of the car when I heard the announcer, "Joining us from San Antonio...") though I saw part of the show from the ground and happy to see half the band with red plumes and the other half with black. I loved their show and the concept of the plume changes Wakeland - I generally don't like classical music being performed on the field, I thought their musical selections really fit the theme of their show. LD Bell - I love the music for their show, and I'm excited to see what they add for BOA Grand Nationals! Plano East - I didn't like the show as much as last year's at the beginning of the season but by the end of the season I thought it was really nice. I really liked that at Plano school did a very BOAish show. Keller - I liked the concept of the show. I really liked the take on Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek for the ballad by using a french horn solo. Avon - They may not be a Texas band their trumpets are AMAZING. I love whistling that part to practice my double tongueing xD Others: Plano ( - what can I say? It's a lame show, but its my lame show), The Woodlands, Richland, McKinney Boyd (I love "It Chooses Me"), and Carmel.
  22. That's happened at all BOAs in Texas, and most of them overall, this year. So I guess it's normal for this year. As for The Woodlands, I'm sure you're going to do great! Once you get out there, just focus on giving your best show possible! I dunno how much this helps since my band in the last two years only did one contest that had a prelims and finals....lol.
  23. Yeah, this is their first year to attend GN so Indiana bands are in for a treat. They're on par with LD Bell so I'm guessing top 3 is possible and top 5 at the very least....I've seen a few Indiana bands (Avon, Carmel, and Lawrence Central) online and they're looking really good. I'm looking forward to the Indianapolis regional this weeked and seeing how to the Indiana bands stack up just before GN.
  24. Yeah, I thought about that afterwards and was like "wow, seventh probably is a reasonable spot for them." I can't wait to watch the live webcast. Though, does Lucas Oil stadium have a different echo effect then the Alamodome? People say its unrealistic to expect a band to win on their first time at GN but I can't see why, other then the hash line change. On a unrelated note, I really wish Tarpon Springs was going this year. I just saw their encore performance on the fan network and it was really cool xD
  25. I get it...thanks for explaining! That's always confused me. About 2003, I didn't know Westfield had a penalty or that just about every band was seperated by .05 o.O That's crazy...I don't think there would be a riot but a lot of people would have been dissapointed....is .05 like a few people's roll step? I'm jealous that Indiana gets state ever year...Each class at my school only gets one shot at state xD
