  1. And McCallum followed at 14th.
  2. Dripping Springs 2013. Missed state because a few tears in Area D finals. Their prelims performance is on YouTube, "Dripping Springs Tiger Band 2013: "Lost Love Found"".
  3. Mirror uniforms from Dripping Springs were first used in 2006. I was a freshman at DS that year.
  4. Dripping Springs 2016 show entitled Rach, Paper, Scissorhands featuring the music of Sergei Rachmaninoff and Danny Elfman. Preview:
  5. How do you think things would shake up if BOA Grand Nats was held in Texas? Personally I think Texas would dominate. So many more Texas programs would be able to attend. With Grand Nats being held in Indy, Texas is only able to send a hand full of bands every year due to travel and budget of the individual programs. I know its a bit of a pipe dream but I would love to see Grand Nationals held in Texas at least once just to see what would happen.
  6. Dripping Springs-The Flight of Spring featuring Dvorak's Symphony #9 "From The New World" and Igor Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring". There is a link to the preview video on their website.

The 4 bands advancing to state will be Vista Ridge, Dripping Springs, Vandegrift and Cedar Park. Its going to be an amazing contest. Can't wait to see how things pan out. Saturday can't get here sooner.
  8. Why was the UIL State Championships thread taken down?
  9. This is what i see actually playing out though Locks: Centennial Cedar Park Dripping Springs Dawson Friendswood Waxahachie On the bubble: Poteet(the only reason I put them on the bubble is because of their pending advancement. If they advance they are a lock for finals) Lake Travis Vandegrift Frenship Boswell Newman Smith Wakeland Sherman Who I think will make up finals: Centennial Cedar Park Dripping Springs Dawson Friendswood Lake Travis Poteet Vandegrift Wakeland Waxahachie The top three spots will be a shoot out between Cedar Park, Dripping Springs, and Waxahachie. Wouldn't be surprised to see Friendswood or Lake Travis in a medal position though. I'm just counting down the days till next Tuesday. It's going to be awesome.
  10. I'm not sure what Drip's score was in prelims but in Finals they got a 1 1 2 1 2.
  11. Richard Herrera, Brandeis HS Kathy Johnson, Argyle HS Andy Sealy, Hebron HS Keith Bearden, Lubbock Rob Toups, Canton HS
  12. Area D Finals in performance order. Hays(8) Cedar Ridge(9) Hendrickson(2) 1st Alt. 5th in finals Cedar Park(7) 3rd in finals* Connally(4) 2nd Alt. 6th in finals Canyon(10) Lake Travis(5) 2nd in finals* Vista Ridge(3) Dripping Springs(1) 1st in finals* Vandegrift(6) 4th in finals* The number in the parentheses was their Prelims placement. I don't know where Hays, Cedar Ridge, Canyon, and Vista Ridge ended up placing in finals. *ADVANCE TO STATE
  13. People from San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas haven't ganged up on Houston area people. They are responding to your posts. Yes you are entitled to your opinion but so is everyone else. If you can't handle people disagreeing with your opinions. DON'T POST ANYTHING! But on a more informative note. I think people are seemingly ganging up on you because you are complaining about something that happened 2 years ago. What happened in the last state cycle has nothing to do with whats going on right now. In fact what happened yesterday or this morning has nothing to do with whats going on right now. Gripping about what could have been is just wasted energy. P.S. A judge is aloud an opinion as well I believe...
  14. Are you talking about the "Mahler Homecoming Performance" video? I watched that one yesterday and I have to say they look very strong for this early. Their music was arranged very well and their playing was very clean. I'm old school when It comes to marching. I'm not one for a bunch of GE body movements in a show, but I can appreciate it when a band does it well. I was very impressed with how in sync the band was as a whole during those moves. Sadly I won't get to see this show live until Oct. 28th. Cedar Park V.S. Dripping Springs football game. Area D is the next day. Nice!
  15. In no particular order: Dawson Clements Dripping Springs Dickinson Clear Brook
  16. Updated Dripping Springs List: 03-Divertimento 04-Scheherezade 05-Estancia(2nd alternate to 4a State, 5th Area D) 06-Rhapsody Riffs: The Music of George Gershwin 07-Smoke Stacks & Paddle Wheels: Life along the River(8th 4a State Finals) 08-III-izms 09-Moments in Crime(1st 4a State Finals) 10-Mood Rings 11-451
  17. This contest is practically an Area D preview. Minus Vista Ridge who is hosting, Drip, Hays, and LBJ. Registered 4a participants: Cedar Ridge Cedar Park Connally Vandegrift Hendrickson Canyon Lake Travis McCallum
  18. Will Forney and Wakeland still be in 4a this year?
  19. Although Hays was a state finalist last year and has been improving greatly, I think either Vista Ridge or Connally would take that spot.
  20. As far as dark horses, I got money on Waxahachie. They just won honor band so we know they can play. With that and an 8th place finish at state the last time around, I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the top 5 at state this year. Vandegrift... Spicer... Shostakovich... Nuf said I think. Cedar Ridge. I saw this program in finals at Sam Houston marching only sophmores and freshmen. I was very impressed by their quality of sound. I'm interested to see what they come up with this year. And you can't count out Hendrickson. Can't say enough good things about this program. They have been a State Marching Band finalist for the past 3 cycles(where I believe they got 5th all three times) and finals at Honor Band the last 2 cycles.
  21. They are the current 4A Honor Band. When you are the Honor Band you are not eligible for the next cycle.
  22. ^ Low brass power. It's going to be interesting to see what they do with their show. Can't wait to see the whole thing.
  23. How did we jump from Area A programs that could potentially keep Area D bands out of finals, to predicting State Finals? This wasn't a discussion about WHO would be top 10 next year. It was a discussion about Cedar Park, Vandegrift, Hendrickson, Dripping Springs, Connally, Hays, and Vista Ridge being good enough to make finals, and the Area A programs that could keep them out of finals. I wanted to know who you had in mind, because I don't think there are any Area A bands that would keep any of these Area D programs out of finals. Thats why I called you out. I agree that most of the programs you listed could potentially make finals(Friendswood and Poteet will make finals). But Friendswood, and Poteet are not in Area A are they? As far as me being bias, sure whatever you think dude. P.S. Alow your profile to recieve PMs. Sending "racey" PMs out but not being able to recieve a PM is pretty low. If you can dish it out you should be able to take it.
