They definitely move around on the field. They are so good. These bands are all so dang good!

That’s exactly what I thought. The arranger didn’t add an a lot of complicated runs and tonguing, which is refreshing. I was blown away by the sound. Everything else was great too, but doesn’t stand out as much to me.

I thought the same thing. There seemed to be some timing issues here and there. But that woodwind feature was very strong! I think the great design and difficulty will offset some of the performance issues.

Dickinson was really great!

Results seemed pretty close to what was predicted here. Congrats to Pasadena Memorial for making finals. So many great groups performed here!

I’m so sad to hear this. As an alum of the program, I have the greatest memories. And the directors were all so great. I know he’s been with the program a long time. Do you guys know what happened, or if he will return?

1 Pearland 2 Dawson 3-4 Dickinson and Clearbrook 5-7 Bwood, SFA, and Clements It’ll be a fun finals I’ll be sorry to miss! It seems like there are a lot more bands putting out great sounding and looking shows. I think there will be some very good bands outside finals. I’ve been pleasantly surprised at every contest I’ve attended this year. Good luck to everyone!

They performed the heck out of their show, but I think the visual and music need a little more meat on the bones. I think some other groups have more demand written. I do think Brazoswoods show is one of the most entertaining I’ve seen this year, and seems like the new director is doing a great job. I’m an alum, so I’m always a fan of theirs. I’m excited to see how they place at Area.

Any way to see the full score sheets? Id love to see how the points were earned. I was pleasantly surprised by this competition. So many great bands that Id never seen perform. Barbers Hill was really great- such nice playing!

Interesting..... Brazoswood scored higher than Clements ( who I thought looked great and have a very cool show), So I might put Blood in the 4-5 range. I would place SFA a bit lower based on an earlier video I saw ( but I know they have a long history of excellence). I can't find a video of Dawson, and they are hard to predict. Clear Brook looks and sounds great, and I can't wait to see Shadow Creek who seems to be on the rise. I think Dickinson will be 2nd because they sound great. Pearland is a solid win for the area.

There’s a recent video of SFA, and I’m not sure about third. I would however put Dickinson up there. They really sound great this year.
