  1. Found this from last night. A 2nd Run through after the football game.
  2. As a staff member for a band, it is frustrating to work very hard and have the kids looking forward to the first contest, but know they cannot show the true potential because of rain. Also, I feel bad for the fans who are paying big money and traveling far to see their kids or past bands, but not be able to see the show how it is supposed to be.
  3. So, its supposed to rain on Saturday all day. Thoughts? I'm quite mad actually because all bands and staff have been looking forward to the first show of the season, and its BOA, and now it looks like it will rain. Hopefully the weather can be nice, but either way, it will be crazy.
  4. I'm most curious to see how Marcus, Bowie and Coppell do. These guys should be in the top 5 at 5A state, but it will be interesting how they are progressing this early in the season. All of the show on the field, part of it and really clean? We'll see. I'm also anxious to see Cedar Park. Since they went to 4A, I feel they have gone down a little bit. 2008 was by far their best year.
  5. Preshows are not judged, but the judges look at the band and getting their first impressions. I know lots of bands "entire" show are 9-10 min long, but for UIL, when they start judging after the preshow its only 8 min. It's just a way to include more of the show on the field at UIL events.
  6. Just FYI, I am NOT a current student at Coppell...I am a marching tech. The students have not been told anything that I'm aware of (I have a sister in band). There are 370 students enrolled in band, but only 270 will be marching. I do not know if the 270 includes colorguard, drumline, etc or whether it includes everybody. ...and good luck trying to look up the show information on a website or asking parents. Most of the band booster parents don't even know what the show is yet. The directors and visual, music staff are talking every week and already making some changes to the program.
  7. I know a little bit about Coppell High School's show...but not allowed to reveal too much... They will field around 270 members. Playing Classical opera from a single composer. Drill Designer, Visual Designers are people who work with L.D. Bell, Broken Arrow High School. Music Arranger Don Hill (Phantom Regiment, L.D. Bell, Broken Arrow, etc) Should be an interesting year.
  8. Coppell is changing from black plumes to white plumes...and getting a bigger, wider black sash without the mirror. Rumor also says they are getting white gloves and white guantlets. http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/14584673_Jn...084418114_6ebVt password is chicago
  9. Anybody know when BOA San Antonio FINALS start?? Thanks.
  10. I think the top 5 or 6 bands at Duncanville Marching Invitational tomorrow will have a very good chance of making finals at BOASA
  11. I am actually going to UNT this fall. Graduated from Coppell this past year. I saw their music today and it is INTENSE!! Nothing like before, they are going a different route this year. Different style of music, different arranger (actually being arranged by past band drector, Mike Davis. I cant wait for the drill either. So...watch out for Coppell this year!! Might have something up their sleeve...
