  1. By first contest, I meant of this season. The only other thing we've done in the '06-'07 year is perform in exhibition at USSBA Hendrickson. We HAVE competed at Westlake the previous years.
  2. This was our (Hendrickson's) first contest that we actually competed in, and I don't think we realized how dirty we were until this point. We're hoping this is going to be a turn around for us and we can bring everything back together for the Woodlands contest on the 21st and then BOA San Antonio on the 3rd. Our show is considerably harder than last years because every year we've been trying to step our shows up in difficulty, both playing and marching, as our band grows in size (this is only our 4th year), and we have quuuuite a bit to clean. Congratulations to all the bands in finals! We watched you in prelims, and you looked amazing! (Bowie, I LOVED your show!)
  3. Long, long day, but the bands were all good, and that always makes up for being tired. Hopefully USSBA at HHS will grow in years to come and even more amazing schools will come
  4. Lead by example. Period. This is my first (and only) year as drum major, and so far setting the best example all the time has really helped. Also, DON'T LISTEN TO THE PIT. Maybe your pit can keep it together, but we're currently having a hard time (I feel like I need earplugs).
  5. You know, using chalk is actually very helpful despite the rain. If we still need help after chalk sets wash away, we can chalk them again, and that plants them more firmly in our memory since we have to do it AGAIN. Seeming waste of chalk and time, but it DOES work.
  6. Very fun to listen to all rehearsal long.
