I subscribed to NFHS to rewatch finals, the audio is pretty muffled on the low end and the battery is mostly indecipherable. Anyone else have this experience? Trying to figure out how to rewatch BOA SA finals, does box5 have that uploaded? -
I'll have whatever Judge 2 is having, please. http://utdirect.utexas.edu/uilsmbc/lbw2_sched_results.WBX?s_conference=5A&s_round=2&s_display_sw=R

Lonestar Drumline Contest
G'townPIT replied to drummerjoe's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
A commissioned piece is custom fit to the original group and if successful, sold as a guide map for other directors to base their show on. There is always some thinning out of rhythms/notes/harmonies, time editing, re-writing for 4 basses instead of 5 throughout the season. All of which takes skill and extensive training. So it's not exactly copy and paste. I agree that perhaps band directors aren't as well rounded as they used to be but a lot of band directors have kids and are too busy/aren't inclined to write though they have the training. My HS drumline tech wrote our music every year and he also writes for 8-10 other high schools every year. He doesn't have kids.. lol And having techs and and assistant directors allows for more music jobs, and students should theoretically get more feedback making for a better show. $$$ seems to have something to with quality indeed. -

Anything with black and red, like crossmen's or colleyville's, looks so sinister and freakin awesome. Crossmen is my favorite, the aussie just adds more BA-ness to it. I also really like jersey surf's new ones. -
feel free to omit yourself next time... most people here don't take kindly to people lacking modesty. Or at least I don't.

The cavies had a large majority of rookies this past season. Which means they won't be rookies this summer, so they'll probably be in the top 2 again along with....

PIT. is it where the 'un-talented' kids go?
G'townPIT replied to Malletguy22's topic in Section Heaven
I do have to admit that being indoors for summer band is definitley perk. Also, being the timpani player was nice since I was the only person in the entire band who got to sit down during rehearsals. But, I had to pull the timpani cart which was loaded with other pit equipment ex.(amps, wind gongs, break drums...) which was quite heavy and it was a loong walk all the way to the practice field. So that part sucked, a lot. -
BOA San Antonio Recaps
G'townPIT replied to itsstephenyo's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
The main reason Georgetown is so far behind is show design. I think this was the the third year out of four that they played a Key Poulan show... They'll have money to spend on show design next year since they spent it all on a new tractor trailer this year and new uniforms/drums the year before. -
colleyville was soo jammin. other than marcus, they had the cleanest 7-8 man snare line at boa SA. the bass line was cranking out some tight runs too.

BOA San Antonio Finals Results

When comparing bands from one year to another, I don't think thenumerical score is that big of a deal. Different judges, different times. People know whether you're a one of a kind band or not. As for the present, I don't have nothin to say. -
