One of our band directors, (Kevin Rabon), is the brass caption head at Phantom. He came back for our first week of band camp and left for Atlanta last night I think. I asked him if they had anything crazy to throw in to the show before finals, he said they had a few more tricks to put in the show. However, he wouldn't go in to detail about them...

Because a marimba/xylo does not naturally project the same amount of sound as a solo trumpet. It's not complicated.

People are just too conservative. I hope the cadets don't get discouraged. I don't just mean tonight, they have received mixed reviews about their show all year. And they are executing their program at a top notch level. What else can ask out of them? Were they just doomed from the start because of their show? yeah that's the only part that I don't get, is that if he's injured, how come he marches through the cymbals at the end. And if I remember correctly, he was marching quickly on his way to the cymbal V.

I really liked the cadets show. The drum solo was jaw-dropping. I thought their show was very innovative, and found it refreshing. After watching shows all day, I realized that they all seem the same, power chords with crazy good drumming going on in the background. I found that to be true for everyone except for the top 6 corps.

I thought this had already been discussed? Isn't he just injured? Makes sense to me.

So was it last year's DCI SA competition where the Cadets overtook the Cavaliers and continued to Finals? Maybe the same thing here, except it's the Cavies overtaking!

Sweet Jesus, that was an awesome show, not to mention THEY OUTSCORED THE BLUE DEVILS! That was the sickest drum break, everybody's been saying the cavies drumline isn't as strong this year, but they definitley played well tonight.

You have to become a member of PAS in order to go to the convention. The cheapest way to become a member is to become an ePAS member. It's only $28, and get's you to the members only section of the PAS site. And then you can register for the conference onsite or online.

I'm going, but I ain't payin a dime! The real action is in the parking lot!

I like the lotr symphony, it just doesn't remind me of the actual story because i've got the music from the movie stuck in my head. It's just more satisfying to play the score from the movie. For marching band, the movie theme's from like whenever it shows the bad guys would be awesome though, get like 5 brake drums going with some killer horn line parts, sweet.

It is going to be so frickin hot outside today, i feel sorry for those guys. But I'm sure they can handle it.
