I don't feel it is right when people from San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas gang up on the people from the Houston area. We have opinions also.

Dripping Springs is a great band and I have only respect for them. I have absolutely no resentment towards the band itself, but I do not think that the way Friendswood lost is indicative of a good judging system.

Why do you think Friendswood's music was "just barely" better? There is a reason Friendswood wins honor band every other year and Dripping Springs has never won

I completely disagree. When 5 music judges give you first over the course of prelims and finals, and one judge gives you fourth, you have to wonder what the judge was smoking to be different from FIVE other judges.

If Friendswood had received first as they should have, it would have been a tie.

Actually, Friendswood got a 4th place from the substitute judge, not a 3rd place, and every other music judge that day (5 total) gave them first place. Anyway, receiving 2nd place three times in the past five state marching contests, Friendswood is the epitome of bad luck (and sometimes bad judging). But as everyone knows, no one remembers second place.

Here we go... Area F Predictions: 1. Dawson 2. Friendswood 3. Clear Falls 4. Galena Park 5. Little Cypress Mauriceville I think Dawson will take Area F but will later lose to a steadily improving Friendswood show at state.

From what I have heard (from band directors), there will very likely only be two spots at state from Area F and no finals competition.

Yeah, the wind was moving from east to west across the field which made it very difficult - we could not use our props because of the high winds. Thank you for your kind words - we are working hard to live up to those expectations: sounding like a concert band while marching difficult drill.

Friendswood received all 1s today and made it to Saturday's contest. Who else is going? Also, did any other bands (in the area or state) struggle with the 40mph sustained winds?

How does the judging for the Percussion Caption (Drumline) work? Specifically, how does the Lone Star Preview judge it?

Friendly rivalry: Friendswood and Brazoswood. Obviously, Friendswood and Dawson is a different story...

Yes they are great. And I also love bands that stand still the whole time when they play.

Friendswood went from 9th after prelims to 4th. They gained 4.2 points!

Friendswood does a patriotic halftime show at their last home game. Does any school do this?

Wow. Also, from 14th to 10th place, the difference was .55 points!

What shows did everyone enjoy during prelims? My favorite shows were LD Bell and Cedar Park. Did anyone watch the second block of shows (Brazoswood, Claudia Taylor Johnson, Friendswood)? I did not see any of those.

I was impressed by Alvin. They have greatly improved since their performance last year. I did not see Cy Falls' performance, but I thought that the order of Dawson, Dripping Springs, and Clements was basically a toss-up.
