  1. After stepping away for a bit to gain clear thoughts, I have come to conclude that you could make the case for 4 bands to have finished 3rd and I wouldn't argue with any of them. But Marcus and Hebron were without a doubt the top 2 on that night. As for Rowlett, I don't know what it is but if state was held out in the open air again I would not only have them in finals every state year I would have them in place for a medal every time. With that being said, I'm sure the will figure it out between now and next state cycle, it could be something as a drill fix as in where the horns are on the field at this point in the music, to a complete change of the arrangements of music. All I know is I enjoyed every single program that took the field Monday/Tuesday and stepping away from teaching for a year because I moved has been a great thing for me as a young director to see and hear things without the influence of being involved with a program... Curious to know how many times a single area swept all the medals? Area D maybe the deepest, but Area B owns all the medals.....Just saying... As for Dville, those kids are gracious in victory as well as in defeat, class act from a classy program
  2. Check the 3A State forum and you will see you're not the only one who loved it
  3. My night is made, halo 4, state in the morning, and I.just noticed Duncanville is staying in the hotel next.my apartment, hells yeah
  4. Careful. Going last does have an advantage in some parts, but also a negative side... I'll keep it short, I have always liked Rowlett, as long as they play/march their butts off and leave it all on the field in prelims, they should be fine. Every band will be bringing every thing they have in prelims, and Rowlett should be able to go toe-to-toe with these bands. Hope to see them live for prelims/finals, I have them predicted to be in finals...
  5. I honestly like how.the contest went and wouldn't change it. They did get the right 14 at the.end.of.the day.
  6. Why not University of Texas Austin??? Just a thought, and don't throw football as an excuse they work around it..
  7. Someone must have been bored....... Meh I remember college what else could you be doing at 2am?
  8. Did they not attend state in 2002?
  9. Just checking... And I would agree, they would just need to.adjust the schedule for a semifinals, but I do think they got the 14 best bands in finals
  10. Someone a little upset about something???
  11. Typically not a bunch of movement from 1st-3rd in finals placement, but 4th-10th is where all the movement happens because of the random draw for times... Should be a great finals, wish I lived back in the DFW so I could go
  12. Finals times are random draw times, 10-6 draw for times, then a break, then 5-1 draw times for finals... Not shocked DSHS and Coppell are top 2
  13. Nice post in the dci forum.
  14. I could see Cedar Park in the top 14, but CTJ was by far and away the top band today, it's just hard to tell with what's coming to.the.field all day Saturday
  15. Big hands plus small keys equal bad typing.......... It gets annoying, I need.to let my wife fix it so it will stop.doing this crap... Or any female who.is good with phones
  16. You may want to.read.the live comments, but to me.they showed that they have a great drum line, brass, and guard but get dirty in some forms and.tuning issues at times
  17. That was area... This is state were the top.programs are going to converge and fight for 10 spots... You.can throw.area out the.window because Rowlett has won area in the past and not made finals..... Just saying area champion doesn't guarantee a state finals slot
  18. You maybe right but from that video the brass towards the end had a few issues, but we will see, they could have that cleaned out by now.. I just know I wouldn't count canton or Fredericksburg out.
  19. Curious to when the predictions go.up what the percentages will be for Berkner and Rowlett to be in finals much less the upper half of finals. And with everyone tripping on Bell and Duncanville where people will have them.... Come on predictions
  20. Was the colony 5A in '99? Also 4A does tend to have this happen often, even more than 3A and I thought 3A would have the upper hand seeing as most of.the finalist for 3A tend to.come from area B... Now this has me curious, to the UIL archives!!!!!
  21. I believe in the 90's Coppell, Poteet, and Sherman were all in the same area and made finals
