  1. LCHS will use that negative energy at State to show said school how good they really are. I'm now cheering for LCHS to have a fantastic show at state
  2. Hmmm.....I think I know who you're talking about
  3. I like the topics that have been going up, so it's kept me coming back to the site and being apart of it
  4. Yeah I agree I think I said that on another topic, that it only takes one judge to change how your band places. I honestly don't have a better way to do it so I'm not going to even try, but if anyone else does I would like to hear it. I know BOA and UIL judging is different, but is one better than the other? As for Bell staying, I think thats great instead of making 2 long trips down, hope those kids get rested for the huge week they have ahead of them
  5. This where I wish I had any drumming ability, I can't tell anything past when their is a late hit on the drum when a single section is playing
  6. No son, I have 3 people in the general area I can get like right now to email you or however you like to be contacted. The other 146 I would have to spend a day or so getting a hold of. And I think you kinda deserved the words said at you. I'm willing to shut my mouth when you are captain
  7. I like Canyon and the way the band is headed. I couldn't do RR b/c I have never seen them live, but according to everyone else they are doing great. I think if Canyon keeps going down the path they are on, they will make state next year.
  8. I've seen North Lamar twice this year, and they always seem to do well. Maybe not this year, but next state cycle they should medal
  9. I get what you're saying, but for the judges they aren't all old. I know at Area C they had college directors and a few high school ones as well. I will agree the judging does seem to get a little nuts at both area and state. I have never been to a BOA contest so I can't say anything about the judging yet
  10. My season started and will end the same way...Watching my Sister and Cousin in the stands at contest as I sit in the rain/wind/cold enjoying bands
  11. Fossil Ridge hasn't been in state finals since 99, and hasn't placed higher than 12th according to the UIL website. They placed 3rd in Desoto and 2nd at HEB, 2 contest that aren't stacked this year. They just have been a band I wanted so much more out of each time I have ever seen them, and they never give me that extra something. So umm if you don't like what I have put then get over it, it's here untill someone removes it
  12. I'm always chilled out, it's just MHO has obviously got under the skin of student at the school. If he doesn't like it ignore it. I didn't say that Fossil Ridge sucks, I simply put they were on the fall.
  13. Earlier someone said you can use history to make predictions and know who will be a contender. So before Area I think majority would have put Churchhill in SMBC finals, let alone SMBC. Well obviously you can't use what happened last year or before, because Churchill would have made state if this was true, and well as we can all tell they missed out. Every year is different, the music is different, drill is different, and in some cases staff changes. Schools move up and down in class, and grow/shrink in band members. I feel bad for the Churchhill students, I like the program and the way it was headed, it just came up a few points short. Hope that helps
  14. Well thats your opinion, you don't like mine, don't read it! This is what I think, and if you want reasons I will give them.
  15. On The rise: 2A-Malakaff(or however it's spelled) 3A- Port Isabel North Forney Kaufman 4A-Forney Waxahachie Canyon Roma 5A-Hebron Haltom Garland High Rowlett Plano East Plateau: Duncanville Marcus Bell Mesquite Poteet Friendswood Coppell Queen City (This is a plateau I think anyone would like to be on, this is as high as you go) On the fall: Lake Highlands Sherman Frienship Azle Keller Fossil Ridge Mesquite High Wills Point (All marching band related)
  16. It's not as rough as years past, but still a solid contest.
  17. Agreed, I will bet any amount of money that if you were to walk up to the band at state that gets last place, that they would still be enjoying the moment and enjoying the contest. I would love to tech a group of kids with that in them than a group that was win at all cost
  18. I know, I'm just throwing something out there. So for scenerio sake lets say, that Bell and Haltom tie for 10th without the auto finals thing. Break the tie and justify why the band is and isn't in finals. Don't get upset people it's just a question I have always wanted answered and never understood. I don't have a better way to break ties than the current way, but if I did I would share it
  19. Well now I get that, but wouldn't it make sense to just take the extra school and have 11 in finals? I'm not saying if there was a 4way tie like in 2003 they should take them all, but what if it was just one band that tied, wouldn't you like to see them have a shot? After all they did equal the point needed for finals. I'm just tossing this out there
  20. I have a question, and pending the answer another. If 10 bands make finals, but lets say there is a tie making 11 who could be in finals, do they take all 11 to finals, or do they break the tie and only have 10 in finals and leave out the school that tied?
  21. I would think that this isn't true...I can't even name something like this ever before
  22. I agree, Berkner was very good
  23. Whats with all the hate/love with Coppell? We have plenty of other schools we could talk about.
  24. Judge 4 had one major bleep in scoring, the rest seemed pretty evened out
