  1. The prelims rankings are what I would expect for finals.... Little shocked at the jumping around in finals
  2. I always dig the fire bird... Just wish they would crank up the tempo.... Then again I am a trumpet at heart, high fast and loud baby.. good show look forward to watching if they get into finals
  3. with that being said I now have 14 bands to finals and need to trim it down some more
  4. What's the word on Langham Creek? I usually have them in finals for state but haven't heard anything about them this year. 8am time slot doesn't help either
  5. Just trying to make everyone ease back just a bit, and let it breathe, and maybe give them a few laughs
  6. You thinking a pepsi to go with it too???
  7. Some body is pumped and angry, care to explain what it is you're really angry with?.......... (goes to get popcorn for the rest of the show)
  8. Still 2 cards left, and if they get played I will be shocked.....Just saying
  9. Well said, it doesn't matter which judging system you use, some band will always have a gripe when it's all over... see state 2003 class 4A.... We still want to march 14 in finals from that tie
  10. Throw Canton and Wills Point in there and thats about where I'm at....
  11. Here I came up with 7 finalist rather quick, but those last 3 spots are going to be difficult to select. Like I said I have only seen Fredricksburg, and the others are based on history....... Any sleepers this year that could steal a spot? Port Isabel maybe?
  12. And here are your judges that have to make this call..... I don't like the idea of out of state judges coming in for a UIL event, but if this is good enough for the UIL than it's good enough for me Keath Bearden, Professor Emeritus - Texas Tech University Caroline Beatty, Director of Bands - Texas State University Thomas Caneva, Director of Bands - Ball State University, Muncie, IN David Clemmer, Doctoral Candidate - University of Missouri-Kansas City Andre Feagin, Director of Athletic Bands - University of Texas-El Paso James Hudson, Director of Athletic Bands - Arizona State University James Keene, Professor Emeritus - University of Illinois-Champaign Monte Mast, Director of Fine Arts - Klein ISD Tom Shine, Director of Bands, Retired - Duncanville High School Steve Wessels, Director of Bands - Cedar Park High School
  13. Now that we know the schedule I still have 15 bands that I can see in finals, cutting it to 10 is going to be hard and I will most likely flip-flop until the prediction page is up for both 3A/5A
  14. If it was Scott Coulson you may want to rethink that... Not sure if it was though I know he was slated to be there before they went to different judges for prelims and finals
  15. 10, I believe since 22 bands are attending
  16. Just some love for the 3A schools.... I have only seen Fredericksburg, and they looked really good when I saw them. They are playing Angels In The Architecture and do a great job with it, other than them I would be going off history with North Lamar, Argyle, Canton, and Wills Point, outside of them I have no idea who would round out finals spots
  17. Not sure where these will be but I think these will be in finals...Champs get love by being first Marcus Bowie L.D. Bell Duncanville Coppell Woodlands After that I have no idea and need a giant wheel with the bands left on it to figure this out.
  18. RR and all those that missed on finals will be fine, heck I bet they go to BOA and put the best show of those kids life on display.... I know it sucks to miss finals, especially when you have the expectations of being in finals under the lights, but they can't do anything about it. In the end it will be a good lesson and reminder for the kids that will get another try 2yrs from now. It will sting for sometime but they will be fine... Just saying
  19. I know people are backing away from Bell and Duncanville, but let us not forget, Bell will clean the living crap out of the show before State and BOA and Duncanville has always been a great band at State..... I'll stick with them not only getting into finals but Bell should medal and Dville shouldn't fall worse than 5th.... But anything can happen
  20. I was curious how long it would take for people to cry foul about the scores or their band
  21. I had Duncanville, Coppell, Berkner and North Mesquite advancing and rounding out finals I had Rowlett, Garland, Sachse, Midlothian, Lake Highlands and I believe I rolled with Naaman Forest as my 10th... I don't remember but either them or JJ Pearce
