  1. Area C will be taking 3 to state seeing as only 1 school in class 4A region 21 got a one
  2. At 9:45pm or so we should know who will be at area C and how many will advance. Prediction page will be made as soon as I can get a list of schools that will attend. Last time a few schools decided not to attend Good job to Friendswood and Dawson
  3. Area F is ready, but the contest is on 10/22/2011 so it will only give us a few hours to make the predictions, but the rest of the areas should be on the 29th
  4. After a little research Area C needs 3 out of 4 bands from region 21 to advance so that Area C can send 4 to the SMBC. Those bands are John Tyler, Whitehouse, Jacksonville, and Hallsville
  5. It just so happens that Rockwall Heath, and Royce City made a 2 at Region Last night !!!!!! And West Mesquite, and Terrell will advance to Area. I never expected Heath to get a 2, but then again I wasn't there for the 4A bands so I don't know why they got it. This is truly shocking since West hasn't made area since the late 90's!!
  6. I would like to see a finals with all 12 bands, or even the top 7.. Let them March Looks like Area C is going to just get enough bands to allow for 3 to advance to state.....I know there is another region to hold their contest next week that feeds this area but I don't think they will send enough to allow for 4 to advance
  7. I know which 4 I want to advance from Area A, but I need two bands according to your ranks to jump up..And hey you never know, anything can happen
  8. Our kids will Wednesday afternoon, but when the 4A bands come on the wind should die down from like 20mph to around 10mph, and at Mesquite Memorial Stadium it depends on the wind direction, because it may be blowing 10mph but on the field it could be much harder... At least it wont be wet out.. How is Friendswood this season, haven't had much talk on here about them? I know from past years, their winds can play anything you throw down on the page and make it sound like they were sitting down in a concert hall.
  9. I don't think it matters this much. I for one don't care if a band places 1st or 50th, if its good music and has good drill then I'm happy to have seen the band perform. If I'm a kid from Churchill I'm starting to get sick and tired of the topic being about locks, bubbles, and Churchill decline....That is all, I will go back to letting you kids have at it
  10. 2003 was the last time they were all in the same area and class I believe... Go back more and it was Poteet and Coppell, and before that Poteet and Allen but thats real old. And yes once upon a time Allen use to be in class 4A
  11. Make them play at University of Texas at Austin at High Noon in the middle of summer....If you want a home field advantage..Other than that the Alamo Dome is about as good as you will get for bands, just ask Xenon and those who have been to Cowboys stadium, its not exactly a great place for bands and Houston has field issues as well.
  12. Last time I saw Heath they needed to clean their music and drill, which I'm sure they have and will be ready for area saturday. They had the same issues last state cycle and in finals went from 6th to 4th. We perform early for region and have to take the students back so I'll miss the 4A region but will be there for 3A/5A.
  13. I would bet 3 advance from C but that all depends on the Dallas, Tyler, and Northeast Texas regions. If Area C only sends 2 I feel sorry for the kids who get left out... I won't go as far on the forum to guess the schools but it will be a tight race for the 2 or 3 places.
  14. Poteet and the following......Forney, Sherman, Coppell, Mesquite, North Mesquite, John Horn, J.J. Pearce, Highland Park, Wylie, Duncanville, Plano East, and Berkner. Some of these may have started to fade away, but I know when I was there from 2002-2005 these were the main ones we looked forward to going against.
  15. Just wouldn't of put it like that, thats all
  16. I like Queen City to 4 peat, but thats me.... IDK if Rio Vista is 1A or 2A but I like them to place well this year
  17. Messes up like 99.9% of the predictions
  18. Short and quick review, someone else can give a better one Queen City looks like they are primed for a 4 peat. J.J. Pearce has some more drill to learn but the music was overall good Rockwall Heath needs to clean Angels In The Architecture up but was overall well marched Forney has some playing issues that will be cleaned by area and drill to work out but I enjoyed it Poteet did well, see forney's review as it applies to poteet as well I loved both Garland High and Coppell, if you get a chance to see these bands do it, they were amazing Mesquite, North Mesquite, and John Horn are getting better each year and it brings a smile to my face to see them improve by leaps. Nimitz, Plano, and Plano West were crowd pleasers, who doesn't love a loud well played western show? It is Texas after all. I didn't get to see the earlier groups, sorry guys and I left after Coppell, wife and daughter were sleepy. Good contest with some really good bands, can't wait to see area C 4A To my brother who will read this later watch your shoulders, and to my sister I couldn't read "Hi Mom" on the bottom of your shoes enough....
  19. I'm sorry that happened I have never been and hope to never see spitting by crowds or bands happen, I'll leave the school name out but when we played this school the crowd would throw money at us and yell cash beats trash
  20. The Bias side of me wants my sister or brother (poteet or forney) to win, but I would be happy to see an "unknown" come out and place well like Forney last time coming from nothing to state finals.. I know for sure, that state wont be a let down, good programs playing good music, with good drill all around.
  21. Plus I already had to explain that before I got hired on my current job, so umm yeah
  22. I have had positive experience and negative experiences with crowds. Our little 2A school is only in its 3rd year and we have had mixed crowds so far. Our home crowd seems to enjoy the show and half time but when we play on the road, we have had really bad names yelled at the students and staff. When I attended Mesquite Poteet, for the most part both home and away crowds were polite and respected the students as they performed. Only 3 schools gave the band problems and 1 which made the UIL and school districts stop playing each other for 10yrs for student safety. Not saying the school is a bad place or the people are bad, but the problem that happened in 1997 caused Poteet and Lancaster to not play each other. The other two schools are cross town rival and a life time rival. Those who go to Poteet know those schools. At Forney when I attended was just bad, it wasn't like the Forney band is now. Our own crowd would shout really bad things during our show that would echo on the film, but now I can say it has got much better. What we tell our students is to treat everyone how you want to be treated, be polite and applaud, and don't bad mouth or bash anyone. Most of the shouting and noise comes from the student section, but I have seen a few parents do it, but mainly the students of the school. My one advice to the students who read this forum is be respectful to those around you, most of the people attending a game or contest are their to enjoy the art the students are performing and if lucky enough watch a good football game while they wait for half time. I'm sure the people older than me that marched in the 90's or later have some good experiences with crowds that I would love to read about.
