My younger brothers school did well, just the typical freshman gets off step, or a line looks like a wave, and my personal favorite, the marching woodwind amoebas that will eventually be a square.. Still a good show for Forney High.....As for my sisters school Poteet High from Mesquite looks like your typical state year Poteet Pirate Band. Almost as if the director change didn't effect the program..Guess it helps when he still writes the drill for them. Only issues with them for week 1 would be a few off step, and getting the little things in forms lined up... Of course they both have music issues that will get cleaned as the year goes along, but again who doesn't at the start of the season? Both Forney High, and Mesquite Poteet did very well and I look forward to seeing everyone at Area C.

I could let some very bad words fly about that, but I will just let it go

Maybe they want to create another race similar to the "space race" but in marching band, so that we can go over to the mother land and kick them up and down the field and show why the USA has the best marching bands in the world.....

All we have to do now is beat the Queen James and her ladies. Hope Wade doesn't break his own record for b/s free throw attempts in a series and I hope the refs give Dallas the calls they didn't get in 06!!!! LETS GO MAVS

I wouldn't be to upset, the word out is that they are looking into some high profile school staff members to take over. I vote we wait and see, they may just find another great director to carry on the tradition.

Umm Poteet opened in 1988 and didn't make state for the first several years. I went there and we watched the history during the season. The first year they made finals they played The Last Star Fighter. They missed out a few time before than. But none the less still a solid program.

If I had it my way, props wouldn't be used at all, and videos/lighting is something else I would be against, but thats just me I guess I would rather watch the bands and listen than have some oversized prop or the lights going out...How would you judge that?

doesn't hurt that the PHS director wrote the drill book until 2010, so marching was similar

My High School advanced to round 4 of the playoffs, that has never happened in the 22yr history of Mesquite Poteet. What makes this better, they did against the hated rival Highland Park, a school they have never beat in 17yrs

I love Cedar Park. I love it when power, and raw talent enter the field and blow everyone away. Great band, Great students, very high class kids, always have shown respect to other bands from contest I have been to that they have attended. I have only seen Vista Ridge twice and both times at 4A State. But I like the band, and the uniforms I almost moved to Pflugerville, so I'm very familiar with the bands there, and I love all the Pflugerville bands Hays, has always had me flip-flopping, I liked 1997, and 2009 shows. Dripping Springs, I have only gone heads up with them at State my senior year, and they seem to improve every year since 05-06. Good band with great music students. The other years I was just watching from the stands, like at Frisco, and Last state cycle. LBJ is a really fun band to watch, I would like to see them advance into finals

If they are still 4A Boswell....And am I the only one who will give any love to Canyon who doesn't go there? What about Sherman? No nobody...Thats okay I like being the one that gives hope to the underdogs!! Besides with the adding of 3 bands will that make Area D take 4 to state or still just 3? If it's 3 a few of these bands are going to be left out. Thats all I was looking for before I listed anyone, and I give hope to Area A next 4A state year. What happen to Belton HS? They finished 7th in 2001 then just went silent.

Not avoiding it. You want the list before the lines are redone than fine. Sherman, Frienship, Dawson, Friendswood, Forney, Mesquite Poteet, Waxahachie, Dawson, Roma, Wylie, Pearce, Heath, Any Frisco School that advances. It's not avoiding the question if some 5A school comes down to 4A. That COULD change things up, which is why I was trying to wait a little bit before listing any school, b/c you just don't know what the UIL is going to do. Go ahead and list finals if you like. But I don't think you could without being bias. No order, just list the top 10!

I would list schools, but I need to make sure that lines aren't going to be redone before next marching season. As soon as I find that out, i will list some schools that could keep a few of these Area D schools out. But also depends on how many are allowed to advance to state, so we'll just have to wait

What really rocks....An 8yr old girl played a piano recital for our class today, and owned every single last person in there...I wanted to go to a corner and hide. She played some really difficult music like it was nothing, and she sight read the music we have been working on for the past week...yeah everyone got owned and we know it. Way to go 8yr old.

Hmmm. I don't know if you mean in general or in finals, but if you mean finals I could name some schools that could keep a few of these schools out of finals. Hint, the schools are from the Houston area, DFW, Valley, and Area A. I'm sure you can figure out which ones I speak of

This is different for each ISD..Ex: Mesqite ISD allows everyone to march doesn't matter the grade level, as ong as it's high school students. Plano sends their underclassmen to another school from the Juniors and seniors. So it all depends on what the school district desides. As for your music wish list, I could give you a site, but will only send in a PM
