Busting out the stats and ranks....In your face Indiana bands
-
Thats not how it works....

Granted, but most teachers, just have the students write papers to make up for it..Not all but most, kind of hard to write a paper for math, and besides the parents knew that this would happen when they look at the schedule for the year.

Students missing school isn't a big deal if it's less than a week. Students SHOULD go get there work for the week early, finish it, and turn it in early, or first thing when they return, and should make an appointment to take test they may be missing while on the trip

Texas...The only state where a miltary band can make state finals, A BOA champion can fall to a "non-BOA" style band, and where the top music colleges in the nation are..Gotta love Texas.. Now I have no idea who the heavy hitters are in any other state other than the big names like: Broken Arrow, Avon, LC, PCEP, Carmel, but I do know here, on any given night if your band is not perfect, you miss finals. If your band doesn't perform better than perfect, you miss a medal. The depth here is unlike any other state. Look at the top 15 from 4A and 5A state, plus toss Cedar Park and Connely in there and tell me thats not a deep, and difficult contest to make finals in. 5A alone is cut throat from top to bottom. Thats just the top 15, some areas are so deep that some fantastic programs miss out on going to the big stage to compete. Band is just better in Texas

Those last 2 numbers are crazy!! I knew those kids could play, but I had no idea that they produced some many ALL State kids, I would be interested in the number that made their area/region. I mean when I was at Poteet the most we ever sent at once was 3 to state, and 5 the year after I graduated, but average 1 a year to state, so to send 6+ a year is crazy..Nice job by those programs

Bands Pay for Playoffs....

PLAYOFFS?! You wanna talk about Playoffs?!.....So true, when I was in high school, Poteet won only 1 game in the 3yrs I was there, and Forney lost all 10. At both schools we were just happy to not get blown out. It was so bad at both schools, people would show up to watch halftime then leave -
TCHS "Ghost Train" 2000 show I found Spring HS from the same year, but audio is pretty bad but cool to watch

Well I guess the only thing we can agree on, is that if state was moved back outdoors it would be held in South Texas most likely a college stadium, and it is Texas, we have plenty of fantastic college fields to play on -

AHH thats what it was, a broken arm..not to mention, it was freaking cold sitting in the rain. I'm a fan of an outdoor stadium, but not Floyd Casey, maybe a little farther south at UT, but I guess the Alamo Dome works untill a better stadium is selected.....Come on Cowboys stadium. -

As for the TACO tuba, it was massive rain, after the Baylor football team got thrashed in a home game, so their body imprints were every where like puddles....Okay thats a little over doing it, but their were puddles and holes and it rained all day. Tubas Taco-ed and I believe one band had a kid break some ribs. And as for Allen High, I would love to hear them play in the dome, and if I had to guess, I wouldn't be able to talk to the people around me while they played -
You obviously haven't been here long...There is a whole topic to new uni's and many topics talking about them

IMHO that was the greatest Duncanville show I have ever seen and I have seen some pretty darn good ones, even with director changes the program didn't miss a single beat(no pun intended)

I loved Bells show that year..The death drill was the best

This thought that who performs infront of a band, and behind make a difference is false...Their is a reason they judge to a sheet not to what the band did before
