  1. Looking solid indeed. Here's some video of Anderson, they're looking great too.
  2. Very interesting that there is a lack of Austin area schools that regularly attend and the addition of the Judson ISD schools as well as some bands from the RGV. I completely agree that first place is Round Rock's for the taking, no one else at this competition is quite at their level. I feel that Conally, Dripping Springs, Hendrickson, Lake Travis, O'Connor and Anderson all have a very high chance of making finals. But this still leaves three spots left for finals. Potential bands are Vista Ridge, Wagner, Hays, Georgetown, New Braunfels, and Judson. Should be an interesting competition, I'm sure looking forward to it!
  3. Man, if that's true, then that's not very fair It's cool to see Cy-Fair come out on top against a good group of bands, I wonder if they'll be able to squeeze into the finals at Conroe.
  4. We played Doomsday Machine last year, it was quite an undertaking!
  5. No such schedule yet, I'm afraid
  6. It seems to me that the competition is a lot smaller this year with bands like Cedar Park, Bowie, Dripping Springs not participating. I expect Round Rock to be the runaway winner in the 4A class, and I'm hoping Brandeis and Clark represent my district, NISD, well and take home 1st and 2nd in the 3A class. I guess other competitions this weekend like Vista Ridge and BOA Conroe are attracting bands elsewhere?
  7. It seems to me that there will be a lot of great bands left out of finals... I mean there are some 25-30 quality bands competing for about half as many finals spots. It's just nuts!
  8. I have to politely disagree with your opinion that La Joya should have advanced. I'm in the O'Connor band, and we were able to watch La Joya's finals performance, as well as Taft's. I don't have nearly as much experience as you do as far as knowing what makes a band good, I'm just a sophomore, but I felt that Taft performed at least as clean as La Joya, if not cleaner, and La Joya had a considerably smaller band. And I'm only assuming you that you think that Taft was one of the bands that could have been "switched out" for La Joya because Taft was not in the top 7 after Prelims. As far as Sharyland not advancing, I cannot give my opinion as I have never heard them play. Us O'Connor folks were very pleased with our finals performance, although it was a bit of a bummer to move down from 2nd in Prelims to 4th in finals, but that's the name of the game sometimes. We're all really excited for state and hope to represent our school as one of the top tier bands in Area G. Best of luck to every band performing in the dome on Tuesday, it's going to be a great showing
