4A State Results Discussion

I saw 2 bands each with completly different styles win at the dome tuesday night. DS and CP both won state in my mind; they were so far ahead of the pack and both put on the most memorable shows of the night. CP won state with its power and precission, DS with their amazingly clean marching and beautiful sound. -

Sad day for Poteet, so sorry to hear this. I really feel for those kids. -
Or you could go and pitch a tent infront of Wall Street and protest the greed in todays band programs

OMG! Keep this ENTITLEMENT GARBAGE OUT OF HERE ! ! ! Bands have money because they have strong booster programs; they have strong booster programs because they have parents that work their tails off during their spare time YEAR ROUND! They don't go around to other schools and tell them that they make too much money so they have to give some of it to them. If you want a strong program you have to get the parents involved, and when I say involved; that means WORKING! not complaining or begging. Get involved with the community; have fund raisers that generate serious funds; not a Saturday cookie doe sale. Find out which of your band parents have the skills to make this happen and get them involved. My kids program took a serious hit this year with funding cuts. Our boosters got involved and made up the difference; it was hard work but they made it happen.

Amazing contest! it was a nail biter. way to go Lake Travis! I had a feeling early on in the season that you guys were going to stick around and you did in a big way! Cedar Park, Wow! you guys play it loud and keep it in tune. Sorry that Hendrickson did not make the cut; really wish that D had a 5th spot. Dripping Springs, what can I say, you showed us what a state champ should look and sound like on the turf...

Thats Awful, I hope it works out -
Dripping Springs began taking heat the minute it was announced they had won state in 2009. Blogs about poor sportsmanship, rigged judging, over excited players, on and on. I hate seeing that after 2 years people are still trying to prove that DS did not deserve to win. The directors at Dripping Springs teach the students that the reward is knowing that you played your best and your best was better than your last performance. you cannot predict the judging, you cannot predict a winner based on past performances. The band that goes into finals and performs their best show all year will have a chance to take a medal, the judges will decide which bands best is best enough to win. The honor is knowing that you played your best and made it to state...

Its hard to look at the performances of these bands and try to find one that really stands out; they are all great. it will be the smallest details that decide who will advance; the judges will be looking for perfection.

I dont think that Drippng Springs has ever really looked at Hendrickson as a Rivalrey; if so its just a friendly one..

Crowd Noise!
Bandlover replied to Bandlover's topic in Everything Music: Marching, Concert, Auditions and more
Each game is different; we had good crowds on both sides of the feild this last Friday, both sides were interested in their bands and very respective of the other, however, the Friday before, a kid in the student section had one of those high pitched air horns that he kept setting off during the performance; I wanted to climb in the stands and hold it in his ear until it ran out of air....... -

Great contest! beautiful day, large crowd and great bands! All the bands I watched have really up'd their game this year; lots of complex drills will challenging music. Dripping Springs guard was amazing, they really told the story well, plus the props were really cool. Dawson has a great opening and really keeps you engaged during their show. Clements was really clean and very entertaining.
