  1. Sorry guys, I did not mean to start trouble by posting this topic, I just wanted to know how others react to crowd noise during half time performances...
  2. I have noticed how every football game I have attended this year, the crowds during half time performances have been very loud and don't seem to be paying attention to the bands; even the home crowds seem to be ignoring their bands. I was wondering how this effects the bands on the fields. It frustrates me when I am trying to enjoy the performance. How do you feel and does it effect your band....
  3. All these bands are going to be so good this year there is just no way to predict. Dripping, CP, Look amazing but its wide open, we could see an underdog take it all this year...
  4. I think Lake Travis has what it takes to advance this year, however, I also know that many other bands are close to finishing their shows and it will be wide open. Im sure that Dripping Springs will blow our minds when they get the bugs worked out of their show and clean it up.. cant wait!
  5. Very interesting outcome in this contest
  6. I think you are right, I was at the contest, did not get to see Lake Travis but did get to see Dripping Springs which was an amazing show. Lake Travis has shown up in a big way; if you can top the show I saw Dripping Springs put on then you can top anything that is out there. Very interesting.
  7. That will be cool seeing Cedar Park and Dripping Springs on the same feild. I think this years 4a state will be a toss up between those two, but its still to early to tell.
  8. I agree, I could see them in the top 5; they are ready to make a run at it
  9. sounds great! that is some challenging music
  10. The truth is that both Dripping Springs and Cedar Park have alot of respect for each other; they dont feel like they have to prove anything, both bands will put on a great show; each band will cheer on the other band and shake hands at the end...
  11. Anyones guess at this point; too early to tell who will come out on top; one things for sure, it is hot as heck right now marching on the blacktop.......
  12. I saw DS play during parents night during band camp, it was amazing! the arangment is incredible, cant wait to see this one on the feild
  13. I think the Dripping Springs directors are considering the BOA competition but are not ready to commit just yet; they went ahead and put on the schedule just in case.
  14. So sad and such a shock! All of us at Dripping Springs would like to say how sorry we are to hear this news. We have admired Bowies band program for a very long time, you truly are a class act.
  15. I went to the Friendswood contest and loved it; hope we attend in 2011, the only problem was when the consessions ran out of pizza.
  16. Most years the 3rd saturday in September is the first contest
  17. OMG Dripping Springs, I knew you guys would lay it out again, but WOW! This has potential, I cannot wait to see what you do with it; this is going to be a great season in 4a.....
  18. Saw a band at Westlake, think it was an all girl school called Ann Richards, they were very small but put on a great show, they were very proud and very brave to perform infront of all those bands, one of my favorites. Loved Roundrock, loved Bowie, great sound with both bands; Dripping Springs put on a great show that was alot of fun to watch, Cedar Park was great and also fun to watch; just a great year for many bands...
  19. I will have to say that I have seen more band parents get into it with each other that I have with football parents. It is ok to think that the band you support was the best and should have won but that does not mean you should trash the judges pick. The same thing happened after last years state contest, parents of bands who felt they should have won began talking trash in forums about the judges pick but all the kids did was shake each others hands and talk about how much fun they had.
  20. I can see both sides of whats being said here; one of the bands I loved watching this year was 4a Dripping Springs, they play complicated music while marching a fast drill, that is what seems to set them aside from other 4a bands. In the case of Marcus, what they do works and it works well for them, they clearly were the winners.....Great Job
