The UT High School Band camp is a good one.

Round Rock's show is... well, I was fairly unimpressed. It honestly looks like they're playing Ninja the entire time. An entire movement of their show is just percussion, and their band doesn't seem to play a lot. Also, the colorguard seems a little weak. Leander has a good show this year, as does Reagan. I think Leander has the potential to be fairly good; since UIL last week, I'm sure they've cleaned it and made it all shiny and pretty for Area.

Not having homework on the weekends.

Different high schools have different systems for doing this. At my high school, we move marimbas with flat tires uphill. We also load and unload the truck with our equipment on it every Saturday. The emotional stress is there, however. With microphones, you mess up and *everyone* hears it. Not counting getting teased by wind players because "ya'll can't keep the beat".

Cedar Park's show keeps getting better and better, though. A week before this BOA we saw them at Cap City, and they were not particularly good. It's amazing how much they improved in only a week.

There's still Area yet to go. After Area, it'll be easier to tell who might have a shot.

I'm a pit captain this year, and we work just as hard as the rest of the band does. I get kind of irritated when brass players insult my section because we don't march. Just because we don't doesn't mean that we don't work just as hard. There's always so much to worry about during every performance and every moment. We do have some "untalented" people, but those guys are percussionists through and through. They work hard too, and they get better every day. It always makes me laugh when I think of the people on drumline that are in Concert Band. XD
