  1. It is more of an honor system but I've never heard of a band that puts drill on the field during the week before August 1st. Actually most bands don't put the drill on the field until late first week early second week (well at least the bands I know).
  2. I also know that there is a rule where you can't practice more than 8 hours (or a certain amount of time) prior to August 1st.
  3. They should just cut out Fire of Eternal Glory and call their show Defiant Heart Well on the other hand at least they're being original. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Dripping Springs this year!
  4. As interesting as that may be. I pretty sure the new post isn't about a space race. http://www.txbands.com/forums/index.php?sh...amp;#entry79741
  5. Well it happened again, another person just put up another Russian spam post. Same company or place is being advertised. I really hope this stops. (Not an attack on anybody, just going on a rant not meant to offend anybody)
  6. It's all good, just glad it was fixed. I noticed the russian spam on the forums. Do you know why it's there? Just curious
  7. Ok yeah, now I see it. He's from Friendswood. Which would explain why he has put them as a lock at BOA. I need to pay better attention before I post.
  8. Maybe I missed it but newwave you never mentioned which band your in so by saying it was just a bad year for us, makes me a bit confused.
  9. I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem. I hope they are able to fix this issue soon.
  10. I've been trying to go to the homepage but when I enter www.txbands.org it tells me fatal error has occurred. Is anybody else having this problem?
  11. Now that is great. I do like this version. I can hear the band and not just pit and metronome. This sounds like a great show.
  12. Oh yeah it is intriguing but I don't care for the poor video quality. It looks to be a fun show, will definitely keep an eye on them this coming season
  13. I'm not that impressed with that, although the metronome isn't helping either. Would be better if the pit wasn't so close, I'm listening more to what the pit is doing rather than the band. Besides that it sounds like it will be an interesting show.
  14. I don't think that we have forgotten but I think that there is a lot of really good competition in 4A. Not only at the State level but also in their area. I think the competition in 4A will surprise them. They could very well be the next dynasty, only time will tell.
  15. Wow that schedule is absolutely ridiculous. I see alot of contenders. There might be a few suprises, bands that are normally locks may be ousted by one of the many great bands in this crazy schedule.
  16. That's unfortunate Poteet has been a solid contender for a long time. I hope it isn't a rebuilding year, I'd like to see them contend.
  17. I would love to see Dripping Springs pull off the repeat with this show. Looks to be an interesting year in 4A.
  18. Cedar Park may be, "freakishly," good but it will be hard for them to be a, "dynasty." Seeing that they're stuck in Area D which has bands such as Dripping Springs, Vandegrift, Hendrickson, Hays, and LBJ (just to name a few). Area D will definitely be fun to watch.
  19. not all bands need colorguards our band doesnt because A. We only have 70 people marching anyway and B. Our director doesn't care for colorguards, You know why because exactly the opposite of what you said you see alot of bands colorguards off during drill and it looks sloppy and takes away from the bands performance. Again we are talking Uil not Boa. GE is good to have but according to UIL isnt necessary
  20. You know that being said I use to like that when I first saw Drumline but now that I'm in Marching band I realize now that, that is crap and goes against everything Texas Band Directors try to teach.
  21. Why? Its cool yes for a movie, but its not marching.
  22. No doubt music is important and it should be most important but the point I'm trying to make is that there are too many bands that get away with having great music and okay marching, and more so in the lower classifications like AA and A. Nonetheless the bands that win it all have the best of both and I think that's the most important to be able to be consistent with both marching and musicality.
  23. Well techincally speaking Music is more important that Marching atleast on the UIL marching Rubric, But thats beside the point I know when watching a show Its hard to get distracted by props long enough to miss the marching.
  24. Unfortunately these students are victims of this war that has been set on programs such as Marcus. Its not for me to judge them soley on what I personally don't like in a marching show. That being said the people who put their time and soul into their show should be proud of what they accomplished no matter what the haters say.
  25. I go to a small 3a school we have 70 in our band... hardly enough to have a color guard. So if UIL were to judge on whether or not you have a colorguard that wouldnt be fair.
