  1. Well I guess it's anybody's to win. Someone - somewhere seriously needs to look at UIL grading. If one judge doesn't like your show, your toast....
  2. Say whaaaaaat?.... Bowie 5th-. . ......
  3. Wow 1st,2nd and 3rd block on Friday along with 1st,2nd and 3rd block on Saturday. .......................wow
  4. Good night and sweet dreams
  5. Ok... Here's the deal. I have said this before but I'll say it again.... I am neither a Round Rock kid nor do I have a dog in the fight. Just keep the opinions classy. Although this is proving great reading material for others the fact of the matter is.... 5 bands represented Texas the best the could, they are the ones that were there, and we will never know what "would have happened" this year, last year or next year with any high school band that does not attend Grand Nats. None of my opinions commented on anything but positive praise for all 5 bands. And you are missing the whole point of this silly silly back and forth commentary conversation. When someone chooses to take it the dark side... Expect feedback
  6. Ha... That was funny! Why don't you look up in the dictionary the difference between an opinion and disrespect... I don't have a problem with opinions, just people who blatantly hurt someone else's hardwork with disrespect. If you don't care... Then drop it.
  7. Are you freaking kidding? Where have you been all season. Shame on you....those 5 bands deserve more than your last comment. Shame, shame, shame ...
  8. And in the top 4....2 bands were from texas! 50%
  9. So..... Unless you were in Indianapolis and actually saw, heard and witnessed how Round Rock performed I doubt Hebron , Bowie or Regan would have stopped them.... "Though nothing against them" . Those Round Rock kids deserved that placement just as any other band who would have marched and played as we'll as they did. The buzz that was created in the stands was like nothing I had seen or heard before from any another one band. This was their break out moment! Don't take that away from them. Those 5 Texas Bands are the ones that went, they are the ones that performed and they are they ones that should be praised... Not this meaningless stuff about if "so and so" band went.. They would have".... Everyone on this forum knows judging is subjective and personal, RR Never lost its placement from semi finals to finals... Hard to question that... IMO.. I hope that RR starts to get the praise for the incredible band they are. And all this said. I have no dog in the fight... Just so amazed at the great job RR did last night and they way they represented Texas!
  10. Based on BOA Austin, they have a great show. Since their performance of "the Dragon" they have been slowly moving up the food chain. If they can bring it at BOA Nationals, they no doubt will be the ones to put Round a Rock on the map. Even tho they are not "the talked about band" .... They are not a one hit wonder and look for them to stay at the top.
  11. Just to be clear.... 1. This is a forum. I.e. To discuss and ask questions of each other. Unless it is blatant disrespectful don't call someone out! 2. Based on what Cedar Ridge did at Dripping Springs Drum Contest, and what I have seen so far...if they were holding back at BOA... You do the math. Just saying"...........
  12. Lighten up "nickr" .... I was asking a question. ..........
  13. I think Westlake is becoming like Vista Ridge Marching Contest, although Westlake does have a few heavy hitters and the venue is larger where Vista Ridge is a small venue . IMO
  14. Ummmm. Were you still doing that at BOA Austin?
  15. Be wary of some bands who come out of the gate running ahead of those consistent bands. They will peak too soon.
  16. What happened to Round Rock? This was a powerhouse drum line and cymbal chicks top dog?
  17. Oops I meant lone star Drumline contest today......
  18. Has anyone heard of any results yet?
  19. Does anyone know the reason why Vandergrift left BOA not receiving their award and performing in exhibition?
  20. Neither should a band be marked off for capes on their uniform because the judge couldn't see the marching clearly at UIL.... Just saying
  21. Your absolutely right... It was meant to give props to those that stand out..
  22. Just like to say....Anderson kids showed extreme good sportsmanship at BOA. What a great group of kids... Good for you!
  23. life goes on.......... See everyone at BOA and good luck. Be safe on your drive. *** May the odds forever be in your favor! ****
  24. I tried to not say anything more about the matter but reading this.... I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOUR STATEMENT!! I spoke with someone who on a daily basis using a rubik as a grading guide. I was told that if they had someone with the kind of scoring that occuring at UIL, that person would have been retrained and counciled. There is no accountablility to those judges who continue to be out of the scope with everyone else and yet, they are allowed to continue to have such an inpact on bands. I'm not speaking of one or two bands in particular, ... this has been going on forever in UIL. So let's just call the spade a spade and realize that unless a band is an elite "well known" band you are marching for your life, there are no considerations of where you've been or what you have done... UNLESS you are in the elite group of LD Bell, Marcus, Bowie... Unless the whole band falls down and stops playing, they are in finals... I'll go as far as to say that a couple of comments made by one judge to a parent in the pressbox was so outragous and unacceptable that it solidfied the fact that judge had already made his mind up that RR was not going to finals and by scoring the way he did helped put the nail in the coffin. Thank god for BOA...
  25. if u have ever been involved in a debate... That is what exactly is going on here... Only more fun. It would hard to believe that ANYONE would take any of this stuff being said personal...
