  1. And still missing the point... Let's just agree to disagree at this point... It's not going to change no matter who says what on this forum. It has been reported that most of the Round Rock kids are over it and looking forward to BOA Now that is class!!!
  2. i was actually joking with you that time... my smile face didn't click so here it is
  3. If you even have to ask that question.. I'm not sure popcorn is what you need...
  4. So let me get this straight....You think just because we are voicing our dissatisfaction with judging that what Round Rock received was justified because of the fact "only one judge gave them 22".... Did you see Round Rock march? Did you watch every band there march? Do you honestly belive that Round Rock didn't deserve to be in finals? If you answer yes to the above.... You didn't get the point.... I'm happy that you think that they judges did their job... carry on......
  5. And I'll respond to them no doubt.... so be warned Although that was a funny reply...
  6. Really.. you were wondering about that? Now that apparently everyone has seen all the Cards that they were wondering about we can stop wondering about what card is next to be played........ BTW: totally disagree, yes, RR is known in the past 3 years to be getting better and better yet even up to last year remained in that "Bubble" word that some many people refer to. So therefore you have missed my point. Funny how you even say the word Iconic and not reputation in your statement. Yes, Round Rock has been around but they haven't been known for their marching shows, with the exception of the drumline, they weren't even in the running...So for Round Rock to get a reputation they will need to be consistent with every contest they enter... It has been only this year that they have been with that "lock" word. I never once indicated that this contest used reputation in their judging... if you read my blog then you would have seen I was referring to a situation that I felt would have happened ........
  7. I totally agree... There are too many variences...We all know that Judges go into contest with favorites, We all know that there bands that unless every kid fell is going to make it through, We know all that some Judges have a "thing" concerning other bands. My whole issue is they should throw out the highest and lowest scores. This is a way to keep everyone honest - Judges wouldn't want their score thrown out therefore it would bring the judging to the same playing level. UIL has got to do something... this is just getting out of hand with the wacked out scoring of some judges. IMO......
  8. What I'm saying is that in life EVERYONE will go through the 5 stages of loss when something devesating happens Denial Anger Bargaining Depression Acceptance Everyone goes through this at different speeds some get to the end quickly while others have to actually work though each process.....but in the end that all get there because your right... there is nothing you can do. It's a life lesson and we all know "life is not fair" Round Rock WILL be fine as well as Anderson - and hopefully there is redemption at BOA for both bands So not to take anything away from Bowie (because they deserved where they are at) BUT I ask.... If Bowie or LD Bell or Marcus had the run that Round Rock had .....I'm betting they still would have been in finals. That's a fact..... This is where I questing the judging!!! EVery band should be on the same playing field but those that have the repetation are not... they are giving a different set of rules. That's a fact. For Round Rock and Anderson not to make finals was a sad day in marching bands... they should have at least been in the finals.... That's a fact
  9. I think before You pass judgement you might want to mention if you actually saw the show Saturday otherwise I think we are perfectly aware of the "one bad performance" senerio......just saying.
  10. I wondered how long it would take for someone to make a comment like this to kids who are just trying to find a reason why their band didn't make finals..... Nice job They are disappointed... Let them talk it out without making them feel bad about it.... this was what forums are used for.
  11. Did any one find it odd that one judge was from San antoino judging San Antonio bands... Oddly enough all San Antoino bands made finals. Does UIL not have a "conflict of interest" rule.... Not being snarky ...just serious wondering.
  12. LET THE GAMES BEGIN... And may the odds be ever in your favor
  13. I'm thinking this year is going to be incredible and memorable... Maybe time for upsets, who knows?
  14. I'll play..... - It's just all so confusing... MY PC VERSION: Area D finals: 1st, 2nd and 3rd slot: anybody's game Bowie Round Rock CT Johnson 4th, 5th and 6th: Ronald Regan Cedar Ridge Hendrickson 7th and 8th: Anderson Westlake 9th and 10th: Lake Travis Churchill My un-PC version of advancement to State 1. CT Johnson 2. Bowie 3. Round Rock 4. Ronald Reagan 5. Cedar Ridge 6. Hendrickson (7) Anderson
  15. Playing first is a good news, bad news scenario... Rock Rock being as strong as they are will undoubtable be prepared to play, even if it is a 830. ..... That being said, if they march their show without a flaw then they set the standard in which all bands that follow must either be better than or not. If they march strong, which they will, expect the score to be somewhat high - but not high enough that another band can't pass it. IMO playing first is the best spot, your the memory, everyone else is compared to you.
  16. So having trouble interperting your comment "I am having so much troubles putting Lake Travis, Ronald Reagan and Round Rock in the mix"... Are you stating that IYO...you put these bands in a "bubble" of even making state?
  17. I agree, it seems that nothing is a lock anymore... The loudest screams of joy come from the kids of the underdog, the unexpected, the "where did they come from" scenerio. The anticipation and excitment of a chance to advance over a "band with the history of winning" is the undescrible. When your the underdog, there is no where to go but up and the climb is memoriable. Once you get there, it almost becomes the normal and the expectation, ... I'd rather make memories and climb......
  18. I'm well aware of that fact... It wasn't the point of the question
  19. Just curious... Why does most assume that Bowie will place first? Bowie has been laying low and other than the one contest (that i know of) does anyone have an idea of where they are at in their show. Is it fair to say that they being predicted to be 1st because of their history or is their show just that good? Case in point... Cedar Park has been a power house but this year they seem to be vulnerable and seems to be missing from the 1 and 2 spot consistently. Again ... Just wondering
  20. Anyone who is watching and understanding what is being judged would agree with you that Lake Travis probably won't be in the top 5 contenders ( if everyone marches a clean show.)... Don't get me wrong, I really liked Lake Travis' show... but to over take some of the bigger bands and what they are bringing... don't see that happening . With that being said, Anderson just did well at BOA St. Louis, s they will be bringing some confidence to the field. Keep in mind, that most directors realize that they are dealing with having to please both UIL and BOA judges and have put those aspect in their shows. There are variences that can also affect marching also... There is a 30% chance Rain on Saturday. Any band playing before 9:00 is going to be wiped. These kids are having to get up as early as 4:30 am to get a practice run in - Most have football games the night before. I'm feeling for them. Let's hope everyone brings their A game.
  21. I agree that vandergrift has the charm but I missed the WOW factor in their show. It's was actually predictable. Playing loud doesn't neccessarliy give you a blended dynamic sound, that is what Cedar Park has that very few can reproduce or even get close too and I disagree that Vanergrifts show can even get close to Cedar Ridge's this year... IMO. With that being said, they are good enough to make finals but I don't see them "running with the big dogs" yet... Time will tell. .............
  22. Just watched Cedar Ridge march. WOW! Where did the guys come from? What an improvement from last year. I said earlier to watch out for Cedar Ridge and ..they just solidified my statement. Good luck to them at SA.. I hope they make finals.
  23. Ok.... I'll bite. Thinking they are taking six.....barring from anything tragic happening... LOCKS: Round Rock Bowie C.T. Johnson Cedar Ridge Ronald Reagan ON THE FENCE: Westlake, Hendrickson and Anderson Next?
