  1. Well I'm glad your school is doing well, but don't go whining about how others can't see this. Just prove it on the field. Go to area and be one of the bands who advances. Then you'll get some talk.
  2. I was trying to say this earlier. I don't think it matters whether or not Cedar Park goes first. They will undoubtedly make finals.
  3. My finals guess, in no particular order: Cedar Park McCallum Cedar Ridge Hays Lake Travis Dripping Springs Connally Vista Ridge Hendrickson Vandegrift Of those 10, the advancers: 1. Cedar Park 2. Vandegrift 3. Dripping Springs 4. Lake Travis
  4. He is the greatest, most skilled, simply beautiful man in the world of modern percussion.
  5. Woops, thanks for catching the typo. And heck yea, competition is gonna be tough this year.
  6. You really can't compare this year to any other year. In 07, Cedar Park wasn't 4A and Vandegrift wasn't around. And didn't Connally also have some redistricting? They became 5A for a while and are 4A once more. I'm basing my predictions off what I've seen this year from each of the schools, and you are basing your's off of what these schools have done in the past. I wonder which would be more reliable. Vandegrift literally wasn't around until just recently, and this is the first year you can consider as a determinant of what they can put out there. So far, I've only seen good things from them, so I can only expect great things from them. Dripping Springs, on the other hand, consistently performs great shows. Lake Travis is having one heck of a year, so I do admit they are the ones I am most nervous about. If any one of those four don't make it, I'd expect it to be Lake Travis. I still believe them to be the more likely option than either Hendrickson or Connally, though.
  7. Well for this year, I've personally seen Vandegrift, Cedar Park, Dripping Springs and Lake Travis perform incredible shows. All four of those schools are having incredibly good years, so I expect them to make it. Plus Lake Travis has the incredible incomparable Sir Lance Brightwell; they're a shoo-in for the win.
  8. I don't believe they do. Round Rock performs on Friday, and we plan on going for the performance, coming back to Round Rock for the football game, and then going back to see if we made finals.
  9. Well it looks like Area D is decided then. Congrats to Cedar Park, Vandegrift, Lake Travis and Dripping Springs (My prediction is in that order)
  10. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissism Mainly directed at that last statement in your sig.
  11. I think any four of those bands mentioned have a decent possibility of winning. Gonna be a real hard night for the judges.
  12. Oh, I thought you meant make finals.
  13. Newman Smith isn't in the running for finals; finals only include the top five from Standstill 1 Silver & Red, and Marching. Newman Smith is in Standstill 2 - Silver.

  16. ...Until CP stopped going to Westlake or Cap City.
  17. You can't use these contests to accurately predict contests like BOA that do not have these captions. And there isn't a difference, except that it shows the level of skill in your Guard/Percussion sections.
  18. Yea, I'd agree, it skews results big time. It's the reason Round Rock won prelims and the reason Cedar Park came in fourth place in a local contest last year. (Cap City)
  19. Quite the assertion, have any evidence to support? With the evidence you gave, both options are possibilities.
  20. That's my point exactly. It's not terribly difficult to distinguish between good and bad, but it gets tricky when you try to distinguish between the good and the great. Also, it takes a true ear to rank drumline A, B and C when all three are so-so. With that last part, I'd disagree. Quote from the Round Rock assistant band director: "I can't tell if it's good or bad, it always sounds good to me." He was talking about the drum feature from 2010. This is the man who, in essence, runs the marching band program at Round Rock, so it's pretty decisive that he is a "good" band director.
  21. Well is it really Churchill getting worse, or everyone else catching up and getting better?
  22. Did you know that show was about BD's past shows? Ridiculous right??
  23. It's not specific to Lone Star Preview. It's pretty standard across all contests. In all honesty, you have to be a drummer to be able to distinguish the really good lines from the okay lines. So if you aren't: sorry, you'll never understand.
