what happend this year is that the etude that were submitted to be used consisted of two hard technical pieces (which was what was wanted) and two easy technical pieces( the easy ones being a bluff so that they would have to pick the harder ones). It just so happens that the committee people who get the final say called the bluff and pick the 2 easier etudes.
