CR has gone through a few color guard directors. They have a young guard out there. It takes a little while to build them up.

I think New Braunfels had a director change this year.

I believe Round Rock's final score was 93.85.

I did not notice that, but it is something I have been concerned about happening. They're running full out and the guard is tossing their rifles then having to move back out of the way of the band.

RR last went in 2012, Bowie and CP a year before that. CR had only been open a couple of years. It seems as BOA has increased its presence in Tx and the addition of other contests such as TMC and the VR contest. It has pulled bands away from this contest.

I remember the time when this contest use to attract bands like Bowie, Cedar Park and Round Rock.

Totally agree. I was trying to think of the right words to describe the band running past the battery. Strobe light effect hits the nail on the head.

I watched Bowie at a fb game with PF about 3 weeks ago. They looked pretty solid to me. I don't think it's necessarily that they are not what they used to be. I just think the level of competition is insane in this area and that it is difficult for any one band to be dominate for any length of time.

I've seen Round Rock and Cedar Park. I'd put Round Rock over Cedar Park.

You should make a trip down to Austin.

Round Rock split into a varsity and jv format a couple of years ago due to the size of their band. All students get try out for the varsity.

I know every BOA event on or before Sept 30 have schedules, so is it 2 weeks before? Should we expect times for Conroe this weekend? Check the BOA Conroe thread. The schedule is posted.

I would also factor if Rouse for that last spot. They were 11th last year.

Round Rock is much more aggressive/dark this year. Excited for this season and what all the bands bring to the field.
