I tried having an argument with some of the guys on my team proving that band isn't for the faint of heart, and I realized... You have no idea how hard band is until you've done it. They think that band is for weak people, for those who weren't good enough to make it in athletics. And you cannot, CANNOT make them think otherwise, it is impossible.

I have no clue, I've never heard any of the clips of any of the music being played by most of the top corps. But I do laugh at the fact that someone put Carolina Crown above Phantom. I giggled at that =p

If you're teaching him how to march, then you shouldn't have any problem. If you're teaching how to march the show, that's a different story.

I play baseball =) I'm the only person in my band on the team... which is sad. I've got all my band hall humor, which a rare few people in baseball find amusing... so I'm all alone there...

Okay, so I've got a girlfriend, and we've been together for about six months or so. But she's been acting a little strange lately, and I'm becoming suspicious. I think I know who she's cheating on me with, but I couldn't get any solid proof. So anyways. I went over to her house the other day and saw her on AIM, and I saw that she had a chat window open with this guy. Then the other day I took her to the movies, and this guy just HAPPENED to be there. So now I'm really concerned, I mean, this girl is really cool, nice, pretty... everything. So I called her last night, and she had to leave like as soon as the conversation started, which is when I realized I still had to do a report on my choice of either Poe's "Annabel Lee" or "The Raven." So which one should I do my report on?

Hey skippy, if they're not looking for phrasing and musicality... what are they looking for?

I'm wondering what generally gets more GE points from BoA judges. 1) marching moves that just look cool *conveyer belts, jazz runs* or 2) dance/moving type visuals Clemens has hardly any of #2, and I think that's a big reason why they don't do as well at BOA as we do in other competitions.

Does anyone know if they still rent out Dancer in the Dark at Blockbuster or something? I never have gotten a chance to look.

The first minute and a half of the 2005 music would stand on its own. Dang... there wasn't much visual to that, it was all music. And I liked the 2002 music... not as much as 2005 though. I still like 95 the best =)

I must say I love the Cavies 2005 music, although quite a few may disagree with me. But their rendition of The Planets is by far the coolest music I've ever heard. 1995 all the way =) Especially that little circle thing at the end, that just rocked =p

I was about to boast about how our school had about 300 members in it last year, but that seems to be average. Then i saw the 600+ member band and thought... never mind. We did have 45 trumpets last year though =p

would you have rather started out with a group like Revolution? or are you happy that you marched Crossmen?

I'm going to do Song of Pines for my solo (class 1) and also gonna do Bugler's Holiday.

Well lets see. Our all state flute player graduated, so now they suck. We have two good clarinets, but we have about 25 of them total, so they suck too. We had one trombone make district, out of 8, so they suck. We had one french horn player make 2nd chair in state, but the rest suck. We had two trumpets make state, four make area, and about 8-10 make region and district. So the trumpets are definitely the best section in our band =p You listen to a recording of our show, and the only thing you hear is trumpet trumpet trumpet. and drums... but any drummer can be loud.

I'm sure my band could perform harder stuff than we do, but our stuff is so easy... maybe it's just because I've been marching it for a long time now... I dunno. Even last year when we actually had a decent show, it was really easy.

I'm actually looking for a division 1 corps... I'm going all out, skipping divi 2 and 3. I just want something big, d2 and 3 just don't seem like they could do it as well as d1 =)

apparently our top french horn player got 2nd in 5A state. Which amuses me to no end, because her sophomore brother got last place at district tryouts

Before I start, I should say that I plan on trying out for Phantom Regiment next year. My band director has posters about Madison Scouts, Crossmen, and Cadets tryouts in places around texas. I looked on Phantom's site and it says nothing about tryouts anywhere except Rockford. Then I talked to my friend and he said that they had tryouts in the Dallas area. So I'm wondering... what corps have tryouts anywhere in Texas?
