  1. Hey I know Clemens and Steele! =p As retarded as this sounds, even having our name posted on this site among Churchhill, Reagan, Bowie and Akins is really cool =p In my opinion, rivalries can be a good thing. If used correctly, they can help a band work way harder then they ever thought possible. But when people start crap with the other school, fights or word battles or whatever, that's when it's retarded. But if you don't have rivalries, what's the point of competition? *more towards acsc* The thing in my profile, the "Clemens is going down" thing, that's a competitive thing, not an insult. It's just a friendly competition thing, even if it doesn't seem like it.
  2. I dunno if you replied to my idea, cuz was exactly how I had suggested to fix the 4 and 23 thing. Add an extra judge, and drop the highest *worst, the 23 in this case* score. I dunno if I said add the extra judges though. And there's more that needs to be fixed than just that...
  3. Steele's gonna take Cedar Park's record as the youngest school to win State Marching Contest... we hope Even if we don't it's gonna be pretty cool. Can someone list off a bunch of really strong 4A bands? I'm just curious to know who the consistent state contenders are.
  4. ... had to march after getting a cyst removed? I have one on my right wrist that I'm pretty sure I'm getting cut out some time in the next two weeks, and less than ten days later, I'm going to be trying out for Crossmen. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? I'd just like to know if it's going to really affect my marching. Thanks.
  5. What's the whole Westfield deal? I've heard numerous people talk about it, but what happened?
  6. Just curious, how is it that you score the bands? I mean, I know there's a bunch of stuff that you look for when scoring, but how do you give certain things points *or take away, or whatever*. It's pretty much amazing...
  7. So I'll restate what I said in the other BOA SA thread. Cedar Park, you guys had THE BEST High School Brassline I've ever heard in my entire life. That seriously made my 21 dollars worth it, thank you =)
  8. Marcus = funniest show ever. And to anyone in Cedar Park, you're now my favorite. That was the most amazing High School brassline I've ever heard in my entire life. Thank you for making my 21 dollar ticket worth it =)
  9. note that he's not even playing on it...
  10. Can't beat 96...
  11. Did anyone see that Mike Sloan is now in charge of the Guard? I don't know how long that's been out, but I only just saw it.
  12. That'll be kinda neat... but I'm wondering how many people are actually going to have time to make something in a week. Also I wonder how many people are going to send in ideas, they may not have enough. On the flip side, it is really cool that they're giving the drum corps fans a chance to see the show they've always wanted done.
  13. Yeah, mine have sucked for the last two years. My district had about 50-60 trumpets trying out, and it took forever. We got our scores between 12:30 and 1 am last year, and I had school the next day too...
  14. Dude, if someone told me that "we aren't even going to make state", I'd chew his **** out real quick, because THAT'S the same guy that's going to mess up during the area finals and screw it up for everyone. If I had the option, I'd sit his butt on the sideline and make him realize how hard everyone else is working and that he is only holding the entire rest of the band back by making those comments.
  15. So why don't they add another judge, then drop the highest and lowest scores. So you have 1,1,1,1,1,25 which, take out a one and the 25, and you're left with a good score from four other judges. Then nobody can complain that one judges screwed them over.
  16. Parents are awesome, until they start to think that they know everything... more than us, for that matter. They keep us hydrated, and make sure we don't kill anyone, that's all. They shouldn't be interfering with anything having to do with how the band is run. Kudos to the cool band parents though, it doesn't happen without them.
  17. My turn =) what did everyone think of Steele? Keep in mind this was their first year of varsity competition.
  18. Haven't seen leander perform, but I plan on skipping a day of school to go watch BOA whenever it comes up, so I'll probably see you guys there.
  19. Since it seems to be a trend now, if you want to get other people's opinions on your band's performance this year, this is the place to put it. Just name your band and we'll give you feedback. This way we're not creating 50 threads for each person trying to figure out how their band's doing.
  20. I think there should be a cheer-o-meter. The bands with the loudest applause get to move on... wouldn't that be controversial... lmao :-p *i'm kidding btw... even though it would be funny *
  21. there's a teacher cult in the school, started by the principal, and it's a requirement for being hired. They all decide what day they want to swarm you with homework. The only teachers not forced to join are the AP teachers, they decide what day they want to give tests on, and all do it on the same day. why am I getting more math homework in my regular class this year than I did in my Honors class last year?
  22. Football Players make the worst marchers. Hands down. They think they're badasses, then they come and bother those of us who are. 8)
  23. So I'm kinda biased, but Steele won their first competition ever this year in their first year as a varsity band and got straight ones at UIL. They're gonna be really strong next year in their first shot at state competition =)
  24. I changed my mind. I'm gonna go with the "best show not to win" part and say Phantom 2003. I love that show to death, it's pretty much amazing.
  25. I think I'm skipping a day of school to go watch it all =)
