I just finished watching the Woodlands show, and this year they have letters written from a girl named Sarah, in Churchills 2007 Letters Home show, the first letter written is TO a girl named Sarah, both shows featuring the same clarinet Solo from Copland (although Woodlands uses it as their motif) coincidence? -

So what is GE really? I'm still confused on how you judge GE, cuz I'm a Churchill Alumni and when I see Churchill getting 4th in visual and 6th in music, but then 9th in GE, how does that work exactly? -

A few questions: 1. Why are the marchers of bowie so compatible and awesome? 2. What did yall think of Churchills show this year as a sign of a come back? As a spectator this year I heard alot of "they're back" in prelims. And as a a former charger, I was just wondering what yall thought 3. Woodlands V Avon? Who thinks Woodlands can take it all this year? Personally was my favorite at SA and conroe 4. Spring in GN Finals? i didn't see their show, so I don't know much about them or their progress this year. 5. How is possible to get no captions but still place 2nd over bands that won GE (woodlands over bowie) I was super shocked to even hear about that -

If you're in the San Antonio area, come watch Johnson perform their final run thru in TX at Heroes stadium at 8 15. Give them the txbands support! -

14) 81.55 Richland 13) 82.70 Spring 12) 83.60 Ronald Reagan 11) 83.90 Anderson 10) 84.95 Winston Churchill 9) 85.00 Flower Mound 8) 85.80 Stephen F Austin 7) 86.10 Round Rock 6) 90.20 Cedar Park 5) 91.00 Claudia Taylor Johnson Outstanding Music Performance - LD Bell 4) 92.10 Marcus Outstanding Visual Performance - LD Bell Outstanding GE - James Bowie 3) 93.85 James Bowie 2) 93.90 The Woodlands 1) 94.20 LD Bell Definitely one of the most memorable BOA SA's ever. 2 dark horses, one getting 7th the other beating Reagan, all top 6 bands breaking 90 (which personally i thought the judges were being a little too generous...) Marcus getting 4th bowie beating marcus SFA getting 8th woodlands getting 2nd no vandergrift brazoswood legacy plugerville or westlake. Im happy to see Churchill make the top 10 again, Reagan seems to just be on and off with 13th in 09 6th last year and now 12th. I'm so happy to see johnsons scoring, im calling them for a finalist at nats, as well as woodlands, I hope they take the whole thing. Best of luck to spring as well. Great season, and best of luck to those continuing it at grand nats -

Mansfield is a name I've never heard of, but when I saw their show, i was blown away. Flowermound hebron and legacy all made finals in Arlington, but its so hard to judge a band that early in the season. Herbron made 10th in alrington, but like i just said so hard to judge. also, your lack of Churchill disturbs me, (jk). CTJ definitly a top 10 band this year for sure. So many good bands this year, it's just like what was said about houston this year, there will be a good amount of great bands that wont make it. Feel bad for those judges. -

Is this based on the first post of the thread? IF so, I think SFA should be put in the lock, grand nats finalists and constant finalist for BOA SA, Round Rock, when I saw them at area last year, totally shocked me, I think they can be great this year. Woodlands Id put in the lock too -

I think some bands do it when visuals isnt their strong suit, but still wanna march and be a good band. But I never really liked taking music from movies, the only part I really like was the ballad -

Why does everyone think our 10 show was awesome? haha, that was my final show, but to be honest, most of the band kids had doubt about it after State. (that doubt didnt mean majority of us didnt perform it to the best of our abilities haha) I personally felt like the drill was too simple, and that the music was too repetitive, and that for a roman coiliseum how, there couldve been more "story" to it. but thats just me, i've seen this years show, only to houston, (MFA fan network) but to what ppl at churchill have told me, I cant wait to see its final product. I wished we did that show last year instead of coliseum, but then it would've been awkward when plymouth canton and churchill both played the same closer at GN.... -

2008, Churchill places 8th in UIL state finals. They also placed 5th in SA, a usual area of placement for them in the time. 2009, Churchill loses Mike Sloan and Albert Lo, and gains a temp color guard director and Brian Pollard. Churchill places 9th in Houston, and 13th in finals. Next year, they lose another band director, their drumline director Chris Reshulte, and place 6th in Houston and 11th in SA finals. They definitely hit hard in the transition in 09, and obviously aren't as good as they used to be, but to say they're still getting worse would mean that they either would get 14th or not make finals at all in 2010 Houston and SA, but they did, and were significantly better than their previous year. I think they're slowly getting better, but with the new staff this year I think the process is sure to speed up within the next few years. -

Not true, the program hit a hard spot, but they're not getting worse. if they were getting worse, they wouldnt have even been in finals last year. With people like Tommy Williams, Adam Clay, Tim Maynerd, and Jenifer Leseth working with them this year, and most likely the following years after, I can only see them getting better, especially with michael gaines as their drill writer. Now, I did march for churchill, so yeah sorry for the bias haha. But once a charger, always a charger -

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised (sorry, probably my love for hometown speaking here) if all three of the good SA bands made it in the ranges of 8th-5th, more likely Johnson being the highest placing, mainly because when you're a band who doesn't always go to grand nats, you tend to just perform better and have a better show when you do go. -

I wouldn't be so quick to take Churchill and Reagan out of the lock this year, both bands always seem to perform at a high level at SA, and they have crowd favorites along with Johnson, but my personal opinion for a lock would be Woodlands Reagan Churchill Bowie Bell SFA Johnson Cedar Park
