  1. They would have made finals if it weren't for some inconsistent judging, but what else is new.
  2. He's not talking about 2008. Jeremy Earnhart began teaching at LD Bell in 1998, and they won their first state title in 2000. He wasn't named head director until 2002, but he was still in charge of the marching band.
  3. Like Xenon said, the "V" represented the roman numeral 5. I don't think it stood for anything else.
  4. Convergence didn't really have a theatrical theme like Bell's past few shows (05-08). The only real theme was the "convergence" of 5 Samuel Barber pieces.
  5. That jam section was pretty rockin. Also, how did Ayala not make GN Finals in 2007? That show is freaking awesome.
  6. I was watching my State DVD from 2004 today and would like to add The Woodlands and Cedar Park 2004 to my favorite shows. Edit* CP's domos that year had pretty hair.
  7. Speaking of the Macy's Parade, I LOVE West Johnston's uniforms.
  8. Wow, Carmel winning music. Other than that, placements are about what I expected.
  9. It was Center Grove, Bell, Richland, Marion Catholic, Avon, PCEP, LC, The Woodlands, BA, SFA, Harrison, Carmel. Edit... Well I guess you can say 3rd if you count the Adair County exhibition performance.
  10. They performed 2nd last year too.
  11. I'd like to see Tarpon Springs finish well. Always liked their shows.
  12. Well, if politics play a part tonight, it's Avons turn to win.
  13. I remember hearing about this. I'm not sure if it was 2000 tho, maybe 2001? I'll ask the gf, she knows.
  14. Attractiveness is definitely noteworthy, but this is what I remember most about that cymbal line...
  15. Westfield 1995 - One of my favorite Barber shows. PCEP 2001 - Band in a box. Nuff said. Union 2003 - You could only get the full effect if you saw it at night, but it was definitely cool. Bell 2003 - IMO the last of the old school LD Bell "Play Loud, March Fast" shows. Best cymbal line ever.
  16. Someone has way too much time on their hands. They don't march and play at the same time because the staff knows that it makes you angry so they deliberately design the show that way.
  17. Churchill continued to perform very well after splitting with Reagan, with Reagan not taking long to become a top performer as well. The Woodlands CP was pretty good their first year too. LD Bell has had several director changes the past few years and it doesn't seem like they have lost any momentum.
  18. If I remember correctly, the judging panel in 2004 was very BOA influenced for Prelims and almost the exact opposite for finals.
  19. When we would rehearse on our practice field at Bell, spray paint was used to mark difficult sets. We would find our spots on the chart and Mr. Earnhart would set us from the tower with help from the techs, then have each persons position spray painted with a dot. We used poker chips to mark spots when rehearsing at Pennington Field.
  20. A lot of bands don't stick around for announcements.
  21. A lot of indoor drumlines do DT shows. I wouldn't really want to try to march in 12/8.
