  1. I always thought The Da Vinci Code had a good soundtrack for a show. Apparently so did the LD Bell directors.
  2. I've received permission from the LD Bell staff to repost the video clip for those of you who were unable to see it before. http://box5.org/ldbell/2008_HEB_Marching_Contest_LDBell.htm

  4. *Noted by the bottom of the video, i think this might be violating some copyright laws
  5. So I'm assuming since Aledo scored high enough to make finals, this is why Trinity was selected for exhibition?
  6. This should be pretty cool. '98 Churchill is still one of my favorite Barber shows.
  7. Van Mathews has been named assistant director at LD Bell. http://www.ldbellband.org/info/modules.php?name=Directors
  8. Mario Casanova is now the head director at Trinity High School. http://www.trinityband.org/staff.html I had no idea he went to North Texas AND Julliard...
  9. I disagree, it's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.
  10. It was actually the other way around when I was at my high school. It seemed as if people came more for the band, and not so much for the football team. Of course, our shows then weren't as complex as they are now...
  11. mmmm. some of it sounds a lot like blue cathedral, which is fantastic. that mello stuff is sexy.
  12. Oops. My bad. Could have sworn I read it differently.
  13. I was a little out of the loop this year when it comes to non Texas bands, so pretty much all my favs are from Tx... Coppell - Nothing like having Gershwin blasted in your face. Newman Smith - I've really enjoyed watching this band the past few years, and I'm always surprised that they don't finish higher. This years show was my favorite from the past years. As I said in another post, loved the trumpet solos. Richland - I have no idea why people had them on the bubble for making finals at GN. I had them as a lock ever since Arlington. Halo sounds pretty darn good on the marching field. LD Bell - Not a lot to say that hasn't already been said. Great way to end the trilogy. It's amazing how much the program has matured and improved even within the past 3-4 years. I could never have imagined marching in a show like 2007 when I was there. Hebron - Has to been one of the most entertaining groups out there. Every time I see them perform I can't help but feel like those kids are having an absolute blast out there on the field. The Woodlands - I enjoy The Woodlands because they always seem to have the complete package. Great great music, and awesome marching. This year was one of the most difficult shows I've seen, and they made it look easy. Ayala - They never seem to get a tremendous amount of hype probably because they aren't from Texas or the Midwest. I'm not the biggest fan of percussion, but that marimba player is amazing. I have more, but they can wait. 2am work shifts are taking their toll...
  14. Fun fact. Bell is the first Texas band to win nationals under the UIL 8 hour rule.
  15. Last band to win semis and finals... Westfield in 2003.
  16. Not sure I agree with Carmel in 3rd, but I'll definitely take Bell in 1st.
