I don't think high school kids typically say thank you to the band parents and for the amount of work they put in makes me disappointed. I just want to tell them all thanks for their service to the sport we love.

Hello everyone! Over the past few years, I have been working on a project that would help secure the results of ALL Area contests from over the years. Today is the day that I am officially giving everyone the link to the document. I spent these past few years typing out each result into specific sections to hopefully make things easier to find them. They are all judge placements from 1st place to however many bands participated in the contest. As of now, I have been able to get all the way back to about 2000/2001 in terms of every band that was at the contests and 1999/2000 in terms of which bands came from the areas. If you have any other results from years before 2015 that aren't already in this document, feel free to email me or send me a message on here. Thanks to these awesome people who helped me with results!- @takigan- Helped me with finding 2007 stuff @J-Mike16- Helped me with typing/finding results (mainly for Area C/Area F) And especially to all those who helped me with the google doc I did before starting this project, without ya'll, this would have not been possible (This will be published to the web soon) https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1F0A8R1wJZN3POAC-oHGGiwOiO0cWkt1lv73AuPLMiyw/edit?usp=sharing

Hi all! I've been searching online for a while looking for a marching band forum, and this seems like a pretty cool place! First, I think an introduction is in order: My name is Louis, and I'm a freshman at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. I'm a grade 8 drummer, and at the university I play percussion in the concert band, symphony orchestra, as well as the pit orchestra for one of the theatre societies. Whilst this is great, I've been incredibly envious of the marching band scene that American high schools and universities seem to have - it looks absolutely fantastic, the level of teamwork and musicianship in some of the bands I've seen online is absolutely phenomenal. I soon hope to be running for a position on the university-wide music committee to start in September 2017, and I would love to try and set up a marching band as part of a manifesto pledge. Brass/wind standard at the university is very high, and there are a large number of percussionists that would be available. In addition to this, the music society and student guild often give out generous subsidies if there is enough support for setting up a new society. Trouble is, very few (if any) UK universities appear to have any sort of marching band/drumline, so there is very little material/expertise to turn to when trying to launch an endeavour like this. Of course there is the purchasing marching percussion - so do we buy snares, quads, and bass drums, or should be just start of with snares? Also, I imagine that leading a marching band is completely different from conducting a wind band, (having heard about things like cadences etc. on Youtube videos). If anyone has every gone through a similar process, or has any material regarding 'leading a band' then I would be extremely grateful! This is a fairly daunting task but I'm determined to try and get it going, even if it's on a small scale at first. Many thanks in advance, Louis

I think this contest is very tight at the moment, I'm honestly not sure how it could go, any ideas? These are the bands: Azle Boswell Brewer Chisholm Trail Denton Saginaw Wichita Falls Rider Wichita Falls Azle and Boswell are the traditional powers from this area, but I think it's much more competitive than years past with the addition of Saginaw high and the emergence of Chisholm Trail, and Rider, both of which have been playing LIGHTS OUT this year with tough shows, it could truly be anyone's trip to state this year, thoughts?
