Danpod Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 I'm pretty sure Lawrence Central wasn't planning on going to Grand Nationals, unless they changed their mind. Quote
AA38 Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 How about Ben Davis of Indianapolis, Indiana. Just because we didn't make finals this past season doesn't mean that we've givin up hope.lol. I simply letting you know that since GN is in our backyard, almost literally, that we should get some consideration for that list. Anyone else think. Maybe, yes, no, no comment. I'm just jk. Hope to see all you TX bands there. Quote

That's a whooooooooooole nother discussion, which I'm sure will take up at least 20 pages =) Quote

Trumpet Master Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 I guess I can inform you Central Texas people about the Mcallen event. Mcallen Fall Preview Experience Donna HS Edinburg HS Edinburg North HS Harlingen HS Harlingen South HS La Joya HS Mcallen HS Mcallen Memorial HS Niki Rowe HS Sharyland HS Roma HS This is just a prediction of who will attend. I feel like were getting cheated out of a real Regional Championship. Quote
Danpod Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 At TMEA, I only saw two bands signed up for the Fall Preview Experience in McAllen. I hope more attend than that. I guess BOA felt that FOUR regionals for one State was just too much. Scheduling was definitely a problem because the regional fell along the same date as another Texas regional. Quote
Trumpet Master Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 I guess that would be true. You know, I would think its kind of hard for valley marching bands to compete against huge Central Texas bands. I don't even remeber the last time a valley band made finals in a BOA event other than in La Joya. So Danpod, who were the two that were signed up in the Mcallen Preview? Quote

Dont forget about the Houston and DFW bands. But hey, Central Texas is pretty good too!!! Quote
mbui Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 And, the San Antonio bands----Ronald Reagan & Winston Churchill. Quote
mbui Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Oh, by the way..... I have been told that the list of participants will likely be posted sometime next week on the Bands of America website. So be on the look out for that. Quote
HashBrownJM Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Hey, just someone from Connally High School here, and while can't offer any insight as to which regional we're attending, I'd think that we'd hit up at least one regional before GN... right? I hope so. Quote
mbui Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 I remember seeing Connally on the official list that BOA had at the TMEA Convention back in February. Can't remember which one it was but Connally was on one of the Regional lists for sure. Quote
euro_euph06 Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 From the BOA e-newsletter: 2006 Fall Update: Michigan Regional, Tennessee Regional and Indiana Fall Preview sites confirmed; Texas show updates Sites have been recently confirmed for the Michigan Regional (Oct. 7, Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, MI) the Tennessee Regional (Sept. 30, Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, TN) and the Indiana Fall Preview Experience (Sept. 17, Carmel High School, Carmel, IN). I guess they know where the great bands are. Quote
Trumpet Master Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 QUOTE (euro_euph06 @ Apr 17 2006, 05:55 PM) I guess they know where the great bands are. You got that right! Oh yeah! That's so cool, the Valley Bands lucked out. A real BOA Regional down here, I hope we make finals again. Quote
BlinK Day 41 Posted April 18, 2006 Author Posted April 18, 2006 yay finally Official Regional/GN Rosters EDIT: Oh my bad it's already been posted Quote

Harlingen seems to do pretty well. Quote
Trumpet Master Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Harlingen is really good, I've been in a band with some of their trumpet players. But who really knows, my band is writing an awesome show in house this year. I hope next year will be our year! If their are any valley people here, here's an inside joke about Harlingen: "Let's Go Blue Turtleneck...Woohaa!" Quote
MartinHorn Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 Well apparently we're doing BOA Arlington. This will be interesting. Quote
BlinK Day 41 Posted April 20, 2006 Author Posted April 20, 2006 Looks like there's going to be some really good bands getting cut from semis this year. Perhaps this is going to be an even more competitive year than last? It seems to me that theres more big names coming in this year than I've seen before Quote
