excel Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Which drumlines are your favorite? and who will you think will step up next year? Quote
excel Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 I know that LD bell will be losing many drumline members Quote
Danpod Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I love the Stephen F. Austin drumline because they have Ralph Hardimon as a "tech". Imagine that? A legend drops by your rehearsal from time to time and shows you how to become a better percussionist. Absolutely amazing. Clear Brook has a great line and I wish they would feature them more often in their shows. Westfield has an awesome line this past year. Their show definitely featured them well. Churchill's drumline should be back to form this coming season. There was some.....unpleasantness with their previous instructor in 2005, which lead to the line not having rehearsal for most of the Summer. Fortunately, Jim Ragsdale (Percussion Tech for The Cavaliers) came to the rescue and has done a fantastic job so far. Plus, they'll have a consultant or two coming in this season to make sure they have the best product possible. Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 QUOTE (excel @ Apr 14 2006, 07:42 PM) I know that LD bell will be losing many drumline members Not sure where you heard that from, but our snare line only has 1 Senior, Bass line has 1, tenors are all returning. And our pit was somewhere around %90 first year players. 2 years from now on the other hand.... Quote
excel Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 I heard at the HEB Drumline competition, Trinity was better than Bell (they were exibition) I think Trinity will be better too becuase they got a new director I heard. and Surround Sound Quote
chickora Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I saw Martin will always be good. I personally think Round Rock's drumline is going to be better. Apparently, we are getting some good freshmen next year. We are only losing a couple of seniors too. Soo, it's going to be exciting. Quote
mbui Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Favorites: Stephen F. Austin & L.D. Bell Both incredible drumline and front ensemble sections. On the rise: Ronald Reagan As of late (especially 2005), the drumline has improved tremendously. The front ensemble on the other hand....one of the best in the nation. Who I expect to bounce back: Winston Churchill. After an off-year in 2005, they have several big names in the percussion business coming in to help out with their 2006 show. I expect the Churchill percussion section to be back better than ever. Quote
excel Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 No it is not a "self-promo" I dont go to either bell or trinity.... I was just responding to bluebell because Trinity is their rival school. They have a good football team Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 yes they have a great football team. not sure what that has to do with band but.... I also didnt say anything abuot trinity or bell being better just that there are only 2(or maybe 3) people on the line leaving. What school do you go to if you dont mind me asking? Quote
Montoya Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 QUOTE (mbui @ Apr 14 2006, 09:34 PM) On the rise: Ronald Reagan As of late (especially 2005), the drumline has improved tremendously. excel Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 I went to fossil ridge....now college... The trinity band (percussion) director is Mike Mattew. He was at fossil ridge. let's not forget MARCUS! they good. Please do not attack other band programs and start untrue rumors. This will not be tolerated. Thanks and Welcome to TxBands - Moose Quote

bluebellbrass07 Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 QUOTE (excel @ Apr 15 2006, 08:21 AM) I think LD bell is overated. they surpass the 8 hour rule by having optional "manditory" practices on Saturdays. Again, I have no idea where you heard that from but i can assure you its not true. As far as bell being overated that is your opinion so i want argue with it. Quote
Moose Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 The Seguin High School drumline will be losing their instructor (Dr. Tim Sivils) for the last 10 years next year. They are only graduating 3 seniors this year, and there has already been countless resumes turned in, so hopefully 2006 will be a good year for them. Quote
excel Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 but you guys DO have practice on SAT. and call them optional! look at your calandar! Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 But we DON'T practice on saturday and call it optional. In fact, we only had about 2 practices on saturday this year. I'll check my old schedule. Quote
euro_euph06 Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 If I remember correctly, you are allowed a certain time before a contest to prepare for it. It also depends on how much time you spend per week and if you want to add that to the weekend. I just think someone has a beef with Bell!!! Quote
excel Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 I dont really care. I think bell is good. but I wish we would get to see some new faces start winning things. bluebell are you in the drumline? Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Nope, hence the "brass" part of my screen name. LOL. I do know almost everyone in it though. Quote
excel Posted April 15, 2006 Author Posted April 15, 2006 well good luck next year.....I feel bad for your football team playing trinity. I know this is off topic but who else would have liked to see Trinity vs Southlake Quote
Danpod Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 L.D. Bell doesn't go over the eight hour rule. Simple. Shut up and quit spreading rumors. Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 I would pay so much to see that game. I bet this last year Trinity wouldve won it. Man, the Bell Trinity game is just sad now. We decorate the school with posters and stuff saying "Terminate Trinity" and things like that, and at pep rallies our football team still thinks they are going to win. But everyone in the school really knows we are going to get killed. And our band usually doesnt get the best hospitality from the trinity crowd while we are performing. I'll leave that stroy for another day just cuz i dont fell like typind it right now. Quote
Xenon Posted April 15, 2006 Posted April 15, 2006 Yeah, I've never been too happy with the Trinity crowd myself. They are the only crowd that ever booed and heckled us as we marched around the track (at our stadium) before the game. Quote
