i thought it was by someone else. if it was by key poulan they really tweaked it up cuz i sounds different from the recordings key poulan has

Seeing that I went to the school, I am pretty darn sure that Key Poulan arranged the Planets for CP. w00t!

If I recall correctly through the haze of history, Crockett's championship shows in the early 80's were Paula Crider's creations. (She later went on to become the director at Univ. / Texas.) I *think* those were her arrangements, but I wouldn't swear to it.

Spring 1994 was the Merlin Patterson arrangement of Stravinsky's Firebird that he wrote for Klein in 1993. (Jersey Village played it [well] this year.)

Here are the state champions since the state contest started if that helps. The first school is the 4A champion and the second school is the 5A champion.

1979 - 4A Carroll & 5A Fredericksburg

1980 - 4A Round Rock & 5A Crockett

1981 - 4A Georgetown & 5A Crockett

1982 - 4A Georgetown & 5A Permian

1983 - 4A Georgetown & 5A San Antonio MacArthur

1984 - 4A Georgetown & 5A San Antonio MacArthur

1985 - 4A Georgetown & 5A San Antonio MacArthur

1986 - 4A Dickinson & 5A Duncanville

1987 - 4A Allen & 5A Westfield

1988 - 4A Allen & 5A Westfield

1989 - 4A Dickinson & 5A Westfield

1990 - 4A Dickinson & 5A Duncanville

There are a few mistakes in this one, first of all in 1979, there was no 5A yet, that did not happen until 1980, and if I am correct, Round Rock won 4A in 1979 and Carroll won in 1A, also in 1983, San Antonio MacArthur did not in Class 5A, it was Laredo Nixon, I think UIL still has that mistake.

"It's actually pretty unlikely Mark Higginbotham arranged 1994 because he was a student in the band in 1993."

Not true. Higginbotham graduated in 1988. He is in his early forties. His first arrangements were for Cy-Falls HS in 1992. It was the music of the movie "Hook" We arranged together in 1993 for Cy-Fair HS.

Correct, Fredericksburg won Class 3A in 1979, not 5A.

I just stumbled upon this Thread. I was a student in the Georgetown Eagle Band during its domination of 4A state in the mid-80s. All of the shows were written in house.   (on paper, without computers)
