mnkyman Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 so i picked up a trumpet the other day and started trying to play..harder than a thought some pointers anyone? this whole vibrating lips dealy ahh..lol.. (btw im a woodwind player if u didnt know) Quote
Aegis Fang Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 work on the mouthpiece until you can play "mary had a little lamb" until then, don't even touch the trumpet. Consider the trumpet as a mouthpiece amplifier, which is really all it is. after that, you're on your own =p I haven't started playing trumpet since 6th grade, so I don't really remember what it's like... I would suggest finding a method book or two or five, and going through that. Quote
TRtrumpet Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Buzz a lot before you even connect the mouthpiece to the insturment. Quote
viccro Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Work a lot on "sirens" up and down...that's how we started in middle school (Was that really 5 years ago?). Quote

T-ratbowieband Posted April 21, 2007 Posted April 21, 2007 get some books and stuff that show you how to set the right embechure too. And maybe a mirror, that helps, so you can see what you look like and then go to the mouthpiece. It would suck to play with your lips set wrong. Quote
