artishard Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 when should i start recording for it, and is it best to play all state etudes, or to play solos? Quote
euro_euph06 Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 I would first ask your lesson teach if you have one. If not, then ask your band director. Those two people will give you the best advice. Quote
bluebellbrass07 Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 Start practicing now. The sooner the better! Quote

artishard Posted May 25, 2006 Author Posted May 25, 2006 haha, you play trumpet, which is inferior to french horn, so don't try and act like you could even attempt to play horn. Quote

the_DRUM_MAJOR Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 i made it in on the all state etudes for the 06 HBOA. So if you plan on that, make sure its REALLY CLEAN. You should start recording now or in early june-july and get it in before the deadlines...they start listening to them around november so it wont matter if you send it in early or not. Quote
Skippy Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Record a solo you haven't played since last year, and do it after a 2-hour marching band rehearsal in one take, the night before the tape is due. Worked for me. Quote

artishard Posted May 26, 2006 Author Posted May 26, 2006 skippy just procrastinates with everything, i have a feeling that most people are going to need more than 30 minutes to record. Quote
