FrontierDirector Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 Frontier is looking for 1 additional Soprano player (lead chops preferred), 1 additional lead baritone, and 1 additional 2nd baritone to fill out the hornline. The corps is also looking to fill the last 2 remaining colorguard positions. Frontier has their entire show on the field, and looking to fill the last few positions before our debut at the Texas Drum Corps Preview Concert in Austin this month. Members in Frontier come from all over the Dallas/Fort Worth area, plus San Antonio, Austin, Amarillo, Far East Texas and Oklahoma. Carpooling is an option from those areas as well. Our next rehearsal is at South Grand Prairie HS this coming Saturday ( June 3rd), from 9am - 7pm. More information on http://www.frontiercorps.org/ or director@frontiercorps.org Quote
EODrillDesigner98 Posted June 5, 2006 Posted June 5, 2006 Hey! Frontier Good luck this coming season and hope to catch one of your performance too. Quote
FrontierDirector Posted June 7, 2006 Author Posted June 7, 2006 Still hoping to fill these spots before our next rehearsal on June 17th. Show is hot and completely on the field, just ready for a few more people to jump and learn it with us. Going to be an exciting summer Quote

Xukaniz Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Too bad I already have a commitment this summer . Quote
FrontierDirector Posted June 9, 2006 Author Posted June 9, 2006 Actually, I don't think I have ever taught a hornline that didn't have at least 1 person learning brass for the first time. So don't let that hold you back. And right now there are several corps in Texas, and most (I can't speak FOR them), are probably in a position to help someone who is brand new to the instrument who is dedicated to learning and working hard. Of course, at this point in the season, it's important to fill in visual holes, there is still plenty of time to get someone up to speed musically. So if you are interested, then, come check out our forums at http://frontiercorps.forumflash.com/ and meet people, or register for more information at Frontier Drum & Bugle Corps Quote
EODrillDesigner98 Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 Hey! Frontiter If I was much closer I would join the front ensemble. But oh well. Quote

Rittenhouse Baptist Church.....I45 and Rittenhouse road. Directions and maps can be found on our website. www.gulfcoastsound.org Our major need right now is in the front ensemble but if thats not your deal then come and see where you might fit in. Like you said, it might be a little late this year to learn a brass instrument but if you work hard and have good marching skills, its possible that you could jump in and pick it up. And you would be that much better for next year. We only have a few rehearsals left before our first field performance.....the show is done. So you would have to be able to jump in and learn the show quickly. We just have to clean and polish it now but there is nothing that says we cant do that with a few new bodies. There are always excuses for not doing something. Just do it!! Quote

If you have the desire and drive to do it, you can do it. Look at me.....I was a trombone player in high school. I graduated in 1991 and hadnt even picked up an instrument in 14 years until I joined Gulf Coast Sound last year and started playing baritone. Quote
