coolest_kid_ever Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 bleh probably thats how itll go but i really want portugal in the finals against italy yay figo and ronaldo hopefully portugal can pull it off Quote
euro_euph06 Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Now that the teams I was rooting for are gone, I am now picking Italy over France in the World Cup final (yes... I know that the Portugal/France game is tomorrow). But who would not want Henry vs. del Perio??? That is a match-up I am looking forward to. Quote
coolest_kid_ever Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 GO PORTUGAL hopefully cristiano ronaldo or luis figo can pull something amazing off DUDE THOSE REFS ARE RIDICULOUS HOW CAN YOU NOT CALL THAT grshuijoujrwi ujwuojirokoisjsdaoi COME ONNNNNNNNNNN games back on go ronaldo Quote
itsstephenyo Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 i actually thought the reffing was pretty consistent... though sometimes a little off. what he wouldn't call one way, he didn't call the other. not bad. not good either, but you can't say the reffing lost this game for portugal. france played tremendous soccer and henry's drawing of the foul was textbook. second half belonged to portugal, no doubt but they just couldn't score. it was a great game nonetheless. Quote
coolest_kid_ever Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 no of course the ref didnt lose the game for portugal but there were a lot of fouls and things he didnt call i dont know a lot about soccer but my friends that do agree with me soo it was a really good game portugal > germany for 3rd whos everyone rooting for the finals? yay italy Quote
x04ty29er Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I do believe that the refs have been quite... well not so good this world cup. In the Italy-Germany match, the ref was clearly favoring Italy as many from behind tackles were left unpunished. This is also one the dirtiest world cups I have ever seen: people taking dives everywhere, stepping in very...um... sensitive areas, and a record number of bookings. Also, christiano ronaldo is a big fake, wayne rooney did not deserve that red card, and Germany should have beaten Italy (that last one is my opinion). I have also seen more surprising matches than ever before. I mean, teams like Australia and Ukraine just came out of nowhere. Just on a side note, seven of Italy's players were named to the fifa allstar team. John terry was the only one from england. 3 from germany and four from france. Quote
sax5warrior Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Italy over France and Germany over Portugal ill be wearing my "Mexico war paint" on for Italy since it came in the cereal box Quote

euro_euph06 Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Im changing my mind--im going for France---Zidane is on fire!!! Quote
coolest_kid_ever Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 zidane is an idiot for headbutting materazzi though im pretty sure we all knew that he wasnt just gonna retire, he was gonna do it in a big way. its a good thing materazzi scored the winning PK for italy. haha yesssssss. i wonder what would have happened is ribery, henry, and zidane had been able to kick PK's... hmm... anyway ITALIA :):):):):) and just to clear the air on a few posts up, rooney DID deserve that red card. you cant rack a guy then shove a player of the opposing team and expect to NOT get a red card. cristiano ronaldo has so many tricks and goes so fast when he runs. hes a great player. i read in the newspaper that he wants to play for real madrid now and not manchester. and pauleta is retiring from international play as well as figo. lame. sax5warrior Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 anyone who tries to defend Zidane are idiots that was 100% red card ejection The war paint on the cereal box didnt work as advertised and i finish with 13-3 on my predictions Basketball is over...Football is over...whats next? FALL FOOTBALL Quote

x04ty29er Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I agree that it was an outrageous foul. However, FIFA states that the ref that stated that he saw the attack actually saw it happen and was not influenced by the replay on the screen (which, btw, shouldn't have happened). If he saw it directly, why did he not come out immidiately and say something about it? on another note, I personally, am pretty much immune to racial slurs, however, if it was enough to set Zizou off, I probably would have hit him so hard he head would spin. Aegis Fang Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 I've been a soccer referree before *quit in 05*, so I know how red cards work and stuff, and what causes them. Any blatant attempt to harm someone is a direct red card. Usually, when people slide tackle into other people on purpose, you can't really prove it, because it looks like they're going for the ball. Same in many cases. But you can't fake a headbutt like that. And you may have seen the center referree run to his assistant referree on the sideline, then gave the red card. The center ref didn't see it, but the flagman did, thus, the red card. If it's unclear, I'll try and explain again after I get more sleep =p Quote
x04ty29er Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Then why did he wait until the ref came to him to say that such a foul had taken place? If he had actually seen the play instead of the replay, would he not immidiately notify the ref? Why wait until after the replay? Quote
x04ty29er Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 Take a look at this: http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory?id=2183696 Zidane is now tell people what happened. Quote

itsstephenyo Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 it wasn't the main ref that saw the foul. his the sideline judge is the one who supposedly saw the foul. Quote
