well i just had my student leader training today and we had decided to have a "Survivor" kind of thing for our camp this week. Well this camp is all about basic marching for the 4th of july parade and we have deicded to have games in the mornings. Its the battle of the sections. Its going to be fun this year. Just curious if any of the bands here are doing something similar.

We have something like that in our before school august camps, but we call it squad comps. The winner of the squad comps, (which used to be the percussion in years past until the band directors decided that they were not eligible to compete) in years past, would get to pour dairy products over the drum majors, until last year, the first year the mellophone section had won it, (the year before we got second place overall, the year before we second to last place overall) they decided we could be first in line at Cici's(which we go to after some friday night games). We start our 4th of a July camp today MARCHING SEASON IS NIGH!!

Well the drumline won the waterballoon toss today but i dont know who won the march off today because i was at sectionals. Tomorrow we are suppose to have a baritone holding contest and another march off. Then on friday the 2 sections that won the previous days will go head-to-head in a capture the flag game. Each section leader created flags and "buffs" for their section. Like the Survivor show.

Well i won the baritone holding contest and i also won/tie the "who can listen to your band director game". That game was from everybody in the band except for the trumpets because they were with mr. hopkins in sectionals. Well my section tied with the tuba and got third place. The drunline got 2nd place and the mellos won. I dont remember what they won. Well at least we have freshmens interested in the band camps.

I hope what you're doing is better organized than what my band did on our spring trip. Instead of being in sections we were in teams based on "random assignment" (i.e. colored bandanas), and all we did were a handfull of silly relay games until lunch. I did not enjoy it. <_<
