Gltokensp06 Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 For those of you who don't know, Westfeild High School hosts a summer music camp for one week. It is called HASWE (Houston Area Summer Wind Ensemble). This is our 3rd annual camp and once again success. We had students from Klein Districs and those from Willis ISD and our own Spring and Westfield high schools. The ages for the camp ranges from high school freshman to college students. The camp was one week, including an open, free performance for the community. The repertoire for the 2006 year included... --Baron Cemetier's Mambo - Donald Grantham (Performed by the 2006 ALL-STATE Symphonic Band) --O Magnum Mysterium - Morten Lauidsen --The Hummel Concerto for Trumpet (Performed by Steve Gullage, a Sam Houston State Universtiy Alumni) --Circus Days - Karl L. King --Nessum Dorman from Turandot - Giacomo Puccini --American Faces - David R. Holsinger The pieces we performed were both EXTREMLY challenging and fun. Hopfully soon, we'll have recording for you guys to listen to. For now, you can just go to www.HASWE.org, to listen to the camp from last year. This camp is growing in popularity and is a great experience to go. Hopfully, the camp will be even more diverse next year. THANKS! Quote
