Marvin Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Today, our school had undergone another bomb threat. They seem to occur quite often here, and usually it is because people think it'd be nice to miss 2nd block, so they decide to play a little joke. What crazy bomber decides to notify the school of the exact time the bomb is set to detonate? But what if this "joke" becomes habitual to the extent where the administration would find it unnecessary to react to a threat such as that? I know it's their obligation to keep students safe, but it's possible for them to not act on it at some point. The little boy who cried wolf, is a good story. But in our case, it would be more than one life to be lost. Do you think anything should be done? Such as metal detectors, or personal searches? It's quite easy to walk into most schools with a weapon. Overall, what actions do you think school administrations should take, to keep our schools safe? Or what do you think about the incident described above? Anything relating to school safety, basically. Debate, explain, whatev. Quote
whitewing09 Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 We got a bomb threat last year at school and what do they do they put us in the stands of our football field. the visitors stands (stands closest to the school) we were like wtf so everyone jumped the rail and ran across to the home side. kinda scary but the next day we find out that it was just the korean dude (that everyone hates) playing a joke to skip last period. it was kinda funny after words after everyone hears the story. the like funniest person in school found the threat he was like "uhhh i was in the restroom... and... uhh i sat down and it was like right there and i was like WOAH" the korean dude did it again but for some reason they only evacuated one wing Quote
TRtrumpet Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 The last time we had a bomb threat, I was in 3rd grade. It was a prank, but I remember everyone getting sent home for the day. I do agree with Marvin when he said it is quite easy to get a weapon into a school if one really wanted to. Quote

txsweetheart183 Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 yea one of the middle schools in our district had a "bomb threat" and they had to sit out in the stands all day and all it was was a stink bomb.. lame Quote
trumpetman1288 Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 We usually go through at least one bomb threat a year. We do the same thing every year...clear the school, go to the stadium on the south side of campus and go to the soccer field on the north side of campus. A lot of us think it is dumb because if anyone was feeling crazy enough, they could drive by the soccer field and shoot up about half the school before most of them even know what was going on. It's a little bit harder to sneak weapons in over here. Students are required to tuck shirts in. The only way in that case would be to put either a knife in your pocket or to put whatever other weapon in your backpack. I am not worried about students bringing weapons though...most people down here would be too scared to do anything. My school is supposedly one of the safest schools down here. We have like maybe, at most, 5 fights in the whole year and absolutely no gang related activity. Curse the strictness of our school system yet bless it at the same time. Quote
